Tandem T-Slim X2: a sudden rise in Occlusion Alarms

I have been trying to put the cannula more into my back than stomach but it's not working. I just changed my set and got another occlusion alarm as soon as I tried to dose. So that's the fifth occlusion alarm in two days. I've lost all confidence.

Tandem T-Slim X2: a sudden rise in Occlusion Alarms

I've been using the Tandem T-Slim X2 since June 2024. Most of that time, it's been good. I've had amazing spells of control, such as two weeks with an average time in range of 90%. In the last few months, it's, gone wrong. I get mystery highs on day three of my sets and the dreaded Occlusion...

    Managing exercise and insulin

A pump is not impossible unless you are a child. I got a pump when I was 33 and I was diagnosed age 12.

Type 1's live till their about 80?

People's interests and goals always develop over time. I would hope this happens to you too. I see from your profile you are 29 – I would love to be 29 again.

Type 1's live till their about 80?

Thank you, @Grant_Vicat . I am always expecting it to get worse, or for something big and bad to crop up. Whenever my blood sugar goes above 9.5mmol/L for more than one hour, I feel like I am watching my life expectancy decrease in real time, or at least my chance of complications increase. I...

Type 1's live till their about 80?

Come on, @Zhnyaka . You can't just say that without elaborating. What do you mean?

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

Do you mean that the number of people predisposed to it has remained constant but other factors mean more of those people end up getting Type 1?

Type 1's live till their about 80?

There was a time when it was considered a good innings for anyone to live to 80. For me, I am just as worried about what quality of life I'll have when I'm older than the actual age I will live to. My last few eye screening letters say I have maculopathy. I also think my gums are becoming...

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I am not sure that explains why type 1 diagnoses are increased 3 to 4 per cent a year.

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I feel like this should be a more mainstream issue than it is. This is basically what Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has been talking about for years and the media calls him a crank and conspiracy theorist. Why are more people getting chronic diseases? Shouldn't we be trying to find out the cause so...

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I was diagnosed with Type 1 aged 12. The impression I got at the time was this was the most common age for the condition to come on. I was also told people can get Type 1 up to about age forty but it's very rare. In the last few years, almost every new type 1 diabetic I meet is an adult who...

    Hypos during the night

I have sympathy for this because I, too, am experiencing lows in the night. However, this cannot be the solution. To deliberately ensure you have blood sugar that high on a regular basis is bad for the body.

Tandem T:Slim X2 – basically every meal out is a disaster

Thank you, @searley . I agree with this principle but based on recent experience I don't know what to do with meals out. I cannot really enjoy a meal out if it results in four hours of misery afterwards. When you manually dose, at what stage do you do so? Also, what is your experience with...

Tandem T:Slim X2 – basically every meal out is a disaster

Thanks, @EllieM. For large meals, I experience the same problem you describe. If the arrow is going up (even diagonally) and I go above 10, it basically means it won't stop rising until at least 13. I very rarely manually bolus because I have been told it will compromise the pump's ability to...

Tandem T:Slim X2 – basically every meal out is a disaster

In recent weeks, my control has been very good. My 30-day average was 90% until a few days ago. Over this past weekend, I had some meals out and they all resulted in three to four hours of high blood sugar. For this reason, I dread every single meal out. I cannot decide whether it's worth...
