I have sympathy for this because I, too, am experiencing lows in the night. However, this cannot be the solution.
To deliberately ensure you have blood sugar that high on a regular basis is bad for the body.
Thank you, @searley . I agree with this principle but based on recent experience I don't know what to do with meals out. I cannot really enjoy a meal out if it results in four hours of misery afterwards.
When you manually dose, at what stage do you do so?
Also, what is your experience with...
Thanks, @EllieM. For large meals, I experience the same problem you describe. If the arrow is going up (even diagonally) and I go above 10, it basically means it won't stop rising until at least 13.
I very rarely manually bolus because I have been told it will compromise the pump's ability to...
In recent weeks, my control has been very good. My 30-day average was 90% until a few days ago.
Over this past weekend, I had some meals out and they all resulted in three to four hours of high blood sugar. For this reason, I dread every single meal out.
I cannot decide whether it's worth...
It sounds like either your ratios and correction factors are quite far off, or there was a physical problem preventing insulin from being delivered properly.
The way the Tandem T:Slim ought to work is that you can go to bed on a high reading and know that you'll wake up in range the next...
I have had the T:Slim for the best part of two years.
So far, I have swapped sides every three days when I change my set. I alternate between one side of the tummy area and the other.
This is annoying at bed time, though, because if the pump is on the opposite side to my Dexcom it loses...
Thanks, @AndBreathe and @Grant_Vicat.
Due to the fact it's basically impossible to see a GP, I decided to phone 111 and give that a go.
The woman I spoke to was quite good and I was told someone would ring me, but that hasn't happened. Maybe I'll get a phone call tomorrow.
My leg looks...
Over the last few days I have noticed a hot feeling in my left calf. I thought it could be a muscular problem (and it still could) but I also had the horrifying realisation that it could be diabetes-related.
I'm on the closed-loop system and I try very hard with it. My time in range is 80-85%...
No I didn't go low after my intervention of 2 units.
For this meal, I gave a dose for each course. I wasn't timing it but I think there was a 10-12 minute gap before each one.
I think I made the mistake of just underestimating everything. For example, the Yorkshire pudding was one of those...
I would like to revisit this topic. My control has been pretty good. This month, I have had several days over 90% in range, and some better still.
However, I still dread meals out. I would love to look forward to them, which I absolutely would if I was not diabetic.
On Sunday I had a...
Do not start a meal on a reading of above 7mmol/L. I wish I'd been given that simple instruction from day one and it had been drummed into me. I cringe when I remember my teenage years and twenties (doing four finger-prick tests per day) when I'd go for a family meal and find out I was on...
I found this thread from searching 'Maculopathy' in the search bar.
@Nicola M , are you saying you managed to reverse your diagnosis? I've had maculopathy in my last two eye screening letters and I am very worried. I've seen floaters for the last two or three years so I've had a bad feeling...
Sorry to hear that, @Juicyj .
I have noticed a common problem I run into, which is when a low turns into a high. I did some activity this morning and had a late breakfast. Before breakfast it was 3.4mmol/L. It then rose to 13.1mmol/L after breakfast and remained high for three hours.
I...
