    Type1 too embarrassed to inject....

Hi everyone I've been 'stabbing' for twenty years. Mostly I get a good reaction. Occasionally not. One episode springs to mind. I was having dinner with a dozen colleagues and I was stuck between the only two of them who objected to my taking my insulin. I was doing my novorapid and...

    Positives of having Diabetes

Oh it's good to read a positive thread. I agree with the availability of tests. Like (most of us) I get my chloresterol checked, feet and eyes examined, meds at a reduced rate (it's not the NHS here in Ireland) and put up with being told that I need to lose just a little bit more weight...

    Your 2013 resolutions

To control my BG without freaking out on insulin. To reduce my weight to the extent that I no longer have a BMI of >30. :P To live life to the full. Every day a new adventure. :D

    You can't argue with stupid

Stupid is as stupid does. Advising someone out of ignorance certainly is an act of stupidity (does she have an -ology? Bad puppy!) Logging in to this forum and having a minor rant about stupid - now THAT's a smart move Read the label (don't worship it - if the User Sheet says 1 in 100,000...

is it to late for me!!!

Alas, I do not have the motivator-baby app. I just have to motivate myself. It's been said already. NO IT IS NOT TOO LATE. If you make the right causes you will reap the right effects. That is, watch your BGs, be sensible in your diet, do some regular exercise, keep off the smokes and limit...

    Blood Glucose Monitors

Hi, I carry my spare Accu-Chek Aviva, test strips, pricker (and lancets) in the 3"x1.5"x1" bag they came in plus glucose (tablets, liquid and gel) in a similar sized semi-rigid pack (Available from DUK shop for about £5.50 ish) together in a pocket of my courier bag. The other junk I carry...

    Diabetes - Anger

I shake and walk funny and raid the fridge and the honey jar when I'm low. Can't say I'd noticed anger, but then I am a fairly placid sort of chap.

Advice for the partner of someone with diabetes

Good advice. That is what the careline is for. Well done to you for having the courage to go public. From your post you really comes across as sympathetic (if getting to the end of your rag) With most (if not all) the situations you describe, I can honestly say "been there, done that" adding...

buy testing strips your self !

Well that was an exciting "we will stand up for what we believe" moment wasn't it? Very meritorious. FYI In the Republic of Ireland, T1s and T2s get their strips paid for if they have a Medical Card. Otherwise, you can register on a scheme that limits he amount you have to pay for your...
