Born in Peterborough, Joined The Army, served in London, Cyprus, Düsseldorf Germany then a return to London, Worked as a residential social worker, served as an elected member of Peterborough City Council. Now retired but involved in Health care, Served as a member of the Group at NICE who set the recommendations for the prevention of diabetes in the 40 to 75's, also a co-author of a paper on the prevention of diabetes in the hard to reach, at the moment a lay member on a research project called GLINT looking at the benefits of Metformin in the prevention of Diabetes Type 2 and heart attacks, I am also sitting on several health care groups as a lay member
