I thought the same after the DAFNE course. The DAFNE course gives the false belief that you can accurately estimate the carb content of a meal just by looking at it. I think this forum shows the extent to which you need to go to achieve low Hb levels.
I would agree with the 'lot of monitoring'. Unfortunately for me, the lessons I learn seem to need revision every year or two, and the biggest lesson was that carb-counting alone is useless.
I guess since I don't know what a 'libre' or 'sugar surfing' are, there may be some research on this...
I'm new here but not so new to type 1. I've been diagnosed for 10 years now.
What I am a bit shocked by are those of you who say you have hba1c levels of 4-5%! I'm really shocked. My tests have never been below 8, and in the last few years are more like 11-12%. I don't see how it can be...
