The BBC. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

You'd have to ask the BBC Good Food website that question as they were the ones who said that but it could be what they're implying. If so, it's another illustration of their general lack of suitable knowledge of diabetes and the various ways of dealing with it.

The BBC. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I decided to do that and got the following response, which was actually quite interesting: Thank you for taking the time to contact BBC Good Food, we appreciate your contact and value the opinions of our readers. The diabetes-friendly recipes you refer to were compiled in collaboration with...

The BBC. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I've written to the BBC numerous times. It's a pointless activity. They will seek to justify even blatant breaches of their own editorial code.

The BBC. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Looking for recipes and a search threw up the BBC Food pages, on which there's a section on diabetic recipes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/collections/diabetes_recipes In one, there was a link to a BBC article about diabetes, which the tag-line used for the link (which I now can't find!)...

You're on the right track but I'd also suggest you log everything you eat in an app. I use Virtuagym's Food app but there are others. A good one should have a database of foods together with their nutritional values plus a barcode scanner for entering stuff you eat that has a barcode easily...

Type 2 My GP, blood testing & cholesterol

I need some advice. I was originally diagnosed with T2 back in May and, at the time, was given my HbA1c and cholesterol levels. I had a 3-month blood check a few weeks ago and the GP receptionist told me the result was "Normal". I said I needed to know more than that and eventually they told me...

    I've just had great news.

Back in May, I went to my GP for a routine cholesterol test and it revealed Hb1ac in the diabetic range (53mmol/mol). They didn't tell me this immediately though but called me back for a second test, which was 61mmol/mol and then confirmed I had T2D. I knew I was slightly overweight and had...

Newly diagnosed: Is My Experience Typical?

Well most food will have some carbohydrates but some obviously has a lot more than others (pasta, potatoes, rice, etc) and those are the sorts of foods they said you should only have one of per meal. Their advice was that carbs should make up no more than 10% of the daily calorie intake, which...

Newly diagnosed: Is My Experience Typical?

Update: Got a place at short notice and did the DESMOND course last week. It was excellent & I came out of it a lot more positive. Got a much better idea of how to balance my food types and was told that eating some carbs is ok, particularly starch rather than sugar, but only to have one major...

Newly diagnosed: Is My Experience Typical?

Hi All. Recently diagnosed with Type 2 after a routine blood test & am quite shocked & angry at the way it was handled & the advice given to me by my GP practice nurse. I was just sent away with a handful of literature, told to buy the Carbs & Cals book & effectively left to get on with it. Have...
