    Libre 2 not registering hypos

Yes I agree, I found the same, so my hospital transferred me onto Dexcom and I have to say that has been really helpful. It generally calls me via the phone 20mins in advance of my blood sugar going too low. So I really like it and have given it positive feedback.

    Hba1c down but Cholesterol up...

I simply ensure that all the food we prepare at home has lots of salad, veg & fruit at the heart of it and this adds so much flavour and I am sure this must help immensely with how your body operates. I am 48yrs old and have only ever had a 'normal' cholesterol reported. I am sure that a lot...

    Libre 2 not registering hypos

As a Type 1 Diabetic, my hospital transferred me from Libre 2 onto Dexcom. I was getting quite a few lower blood sugars (a busy Mum with 3 businesses that I also juggle). But with Dexcom for the past 2 years, I have found everything a lot easier to manage because 20mins before my blood sugar...

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I have no idea. Most Type 1 diabetics I encounter were diagnosed as children. I was diagnosed at age 11. I notice with my children, currently 6yrs & 10yrs, that they frequently talk about friends in their classes that are type 1 diabetic. Obviously if they see the child's blood sugar...

Relaxation Techniques for Blood Sugar Control During Pregnancy

I used to take monthly hypnotherapy treatments whilst pregnant with my son & daughter and I think it helped me to ensure I approached their births in a positive mindset. Obviously before I had my first child at 40yrs old, I hadn't ever had any experience of pregnancy or birth, although I had...

Medtronic 640g sub standard infusion sets

I also changed from the Accu-Chek Insight to a Medtronic (MiniMed) Pump about 3 months ago. For around 4 weeks I was rapidly getting through my supply of the Mio Cannulas, but am now more accustomed to it & get most cannulas to function properly most of the time. I generally agree however...

    Type 1 Work issue

Gosh!, I am so shocked by your recent experience at work, it sounds like something out of the dark ages!. You, and other people writing here, have also made me reflect on the fact that I must have been really fortunate in the past 30+ years & whether I have sufficiently thanked those that I...

Refused extra hand luggage for insulin and pump supplies

Gosh, that seems like a particularly unhelpful response from the airline & I find it hard to believe that the information they have provided you with can actually be the accurate airline policy- i’d be tempted to make another call to the airline to hopefully speak to an operative with a better...

30 weeks and waters have broken

Hi there nmb264 I had my first child 3yrs ago at 35wks, but we didn't realise that my waters had broken at 34wks.....may sound a bit mental, but I have had an issue with both my pregnancies where my insulin requirements decrease as the pregnancy progresses, resulting in much greater hypo...

Stem cell cure for type 1

Hi @grant_vicat , thank you so much for sharing & explaining your experience of kidney/pancreas transplants, I really appreciate it. I have learnt a lot! It sounds like you may have been through a much to achieve this ‘cure’ but I am sure you must still consider it very much worthwhile? And I...

Stem cell cure for type 1

I have heard a couple of people referring to close family members who had type 1 diabetes but were given a pancreas transplant & were cured. But I have not yet had the opportunity to check it out & see if there is any truth in it. Have any of you guys heard anything about pancreas transplants &...

Hi, Congratulations on your 3rd pregnancy. I do appreciate how concerning some of these additional tests you have as a type 1 diabetic can be - I am currently on my 2nd pregnancy at 34wks & just like my first pregnancy with my son feel so anxious at each scan....to the point that I saw a...

Just Found Out I’m Pregnant [emoji33]

Oh! And also forgot to mention the additional eye screening - I think I have now had to attend 3 eye screenings in this pregnancy & it was the hospital consultancy team that have requested it each time.

Just Found Out I’m Pregnant [emoji33]

Congratulations on your pregnancy, that is lovely news! As others have said, contacting your diabetic team or your GP to place you with the diabetic/ante natal team that you would like, I found, is the most important first stop. The diabetic care at my local NHS hospital is not the greatest...
