    Life insurance for diabetics

I managed to get £90k decreasing cover approx 2-3 years ago for about £15 per month with Aviva through my IFA. Really was worth it going through him rather than direct. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Diabetic nonsense

I think the oddest thing I've read recently is in a book called A-Z of special needs for every teacher. It was revised for the 2nd time in 2008. It gives fairly good basic advice on diabetes for a start, if a little dated. States that diabetes that starts in childhood (type 1) is usually much...

does anyone get heavy burning legs?

Heard back from my gp and all my bloods were clear, they think that I have post viral fatigue, to go with my other symptoms of hot and cold flushes and general tiredness. I hadn't really thought about the fact I'd had a lingering cold too. I think it explains the other symptoms and my leg pain...

    Help with Hba1c

Hi! I've been very similar to you in the past and seemed to hit a wall at 9.3% I have been on an insulin pump since April and have felt so much better! I've brought my hba1c down to 7.4% already, it fits in with my lifestyle so well. If you haven't thought about a pump it could be another option...

    Getting pump & work.

Hi Sabantha, I got my pump on the 22nd of April this year, I didn't have saline for a start and had only handled one for about 5 minutes before I was given my own! Personally I found the transition quite easy. Cannular in and off I went! I had a couple of days learning about it the month...

Best kitbag for a pump user

Didn't realise my link didn't work! It's a cath kidston, travel pouch. I just move that in between bags. Now I've been on my pump a while I've realised that I don't need spares of everything with me all of the time. I have to drive most places so I have some spares in my car and I know that...

does anyone get heavy burning legs?

Sabantha, that is the same as me, my muscles feel like they're wasting. No matter how much exercising I do, they feel weak and drained. Things that other people do easily seem to have me exhausted and out of breath. But I'm fairly fit and healthy? I spoke to my new doctor on Monday and he thinks...

    Headaches..

Hi, hopefully your headaches have stopped now! I always get headaches after hypos or hypers, I call them hypo/hyper hangovers because it feels just like one! I do suffer with migraines unrelated to my diabetes though to the point that the pain makes me cry sometimes. One thing that I've found...

Does having type 1 diabetes affect levels of fertility?

Blink, my mum was told exactly the same thing 24 years ago when she had me, my dad is diabetic, I am diabetic too. My older sister however is not. My DSN said that there is 'research that shows a distinct link' [between t1 fathers and diabetic children] and she personally thought it was more...

Blood glucose control related to hormonal changes

My insulin needs change when I'm on too, the week or so I'm on I need more than double my normal dose probably 225%, when I'm just finished it's only 75% of normal then a couple of days after that I'm back to my normal 100%. Odd! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

does anyone get heavy burning legs?

I've been getting something similar, I'm t1 13 years, on a pump for 5 months and hba1c from 9.3% to 7.4% in that time. My legs feel like I've run 5 miles if I've walked about and then walked up the stairs. Not so much at home but if I've walked the dogs and then gone upstairs it's really sore...

Best kitbag for a pump user

I use this http://www.cathkidston.com/highbury-ros ... ct/1009574 and find that it fits most of my things in it...I do carry a big handbag for all the other bits though, glucose tablets etc. In the pouch I carry, emergency insulin pen, my meter, strips, ketones meter and strips, finger...

Where do you wear your insulin pump

I wear mine horizontally across the cups in my bra, just underneath my chest bone slightly under my bust, if that makes sense?! thankfully my I'm 'blessed' with a big enough chest that it can't be seen and only pokes out occasionally or if I'm reaching up to pop something on a shelf. It's not...
