    Purchasing a CGM

I self fund my Medtronic cgm and its pretty simple to do, I just use them every now and then to check how I'm doing or if I'm sick or changing something, definitely worth the money if you can afford it. You can make each sensor last longer too by disconnecting and reconnecting when it says its...

Quick Set With a mind of it's own

I find if you wipe the skin with an alcohol wipe the adhesive sticks much better, alternatively if you feel one of the sides of the plaster coming loose or just feel its not secure, you can use plain steri strip plasters around the sides or ask your doctor for tegaderm plasters that you can cut...

how long can you leave a infusion set really in

I am afraid to admit I rarely stick to the 3 day mark, often leaving them in over a week, I think the absolute maximum is between 10-12 days otherwise they become tender or start to leak I find. Once had a real nasty infection from one that was left in too long, and now I have a scar :( Don't do...

    Low carb crackers

Oh those look tasty! I wish I had the patience to cook! The best low carb crackers I have found are Tesco's own cheese thins. 1.8g of carbs each! Me and my mum were mortified when we spent a significant sum of money on atkins crackers and they were 2.8g each and tasted like chip board!

    Back on the Wagon

**** those tasty carbs! They follow us everywhere! After Ive fallen of the bandwagon (and when I do, I do so spectacularly!) I find it easy to recall how great I felt once I get back into the swing of low carb living! Sure the first week or so isnt great, but once those nasty carbs are out...

    weight loss

Well done you! Weight control can be so difficult :( But low carb is definately the way forward! I try and see it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet, I dont think I will ever go back to any other way of eating. Keep up the good work and you will reach your target in no time! :D

Love the title! Metformin does help woth POS, weight and BG control ... But my god its awful stuff. Cant tell you how many times Ive come on and off it, the last time I really tried to take two a day, I ended up in lactoacidosis and severely dehydrated from chronic bathroom blues! Nasty...

    Best BG monitor?

Hey guys! Im currently using a medtronic/bayer countour link simply because it is handy as it is connected to my pump, but lately Ive been getting some pretty random results from them (I have two). Both have been giving me stupidly different readings (eg low or high when I know Im not) so I...

    Weight, control and babies?!?!?

Hi guys, Im new to the forum. I am so confused about what to do in order to lose weight, control my sugars and hopefully concieve in the near future. Ive been brittle type 1 since 2000, on an insulin pump and have never really had good control for one reason or another. Ive recently been...

    surgical intervention

As a type 1 thats been obese my entire life and cannot seem to get out of the deadly food-insulin-hunger-food-insulin cycle, I can see the attraction but I would never have it after seeing the consequences a close relative of mine has endured. She had a gastric band fitted, supposedly the...
