How to stop my 9am blood sugar spike

Thanks all for your hugely helpful comments - I am experimenting at the moment and of course I know toast and apple aren’t ideal - so wanted to test a theory of eating a carb (bread) with sugar (apple) and then exercising to see how my body reacted at 9am. The results didn’t totally surprise me...

How to stop my 9am blood sugar spike

Think that since porridge also didn’t work (high in carbs but made with semi skimmed milk and no sugar or sugar substitutes) I’ll need to try a 1 egg omelette tomorrow perhaps at 7am to see if that works.

How to stop my 9am blood sugar spike

Ok that experiment didn’t work with small piece of grained toast and peanut butter and small handful of peanuts at c08:15 this morning - followed by a walk of 35 mins and a small apple 15 mins ago. Feel knackered now and just want to sleep!

How to stop my 9am blood sugar spike

Maybe I just need to be patient but I’d like to find a way of stopping it. This morning I’ve eaten an apple and small piece of toast with peanut butter and a handful of peanuts to see if the body thinks now it’s eaten it doesn’t need to increase glucose- then went for half hour walk. Yes just...

How to stop my 9am blood sugar spike

I came off metformin because of diabetic neuropathy- was in pain with feet - so I could increase my vitamin B12 so I could heal the nerves. Since being careful with my diet (lower carb ie salad with separate meat dish with sometimes small helping of carbs (eg chicken wings or curry with really...

How to stop my 9am blood sugar spike

Hi all I purchased a Freestyle Libre 2 monitor earlier this week (mainly because a month ago I decided to stop taking my Metformin) and one thing I’m noticing is when I wake up at 7:30-8:00am my blood sugar goes from say 5-6.5 to around 8 or so by 9am - and I’ve eaten nothing. I assume this is...

Your feedbacks on the best food supplements

I came off metformin several weeks ago to help with Vitamin B12 absorption and a blood test recently confirms my levels are high. I used 3000mcg Bioactive B12 50ml made by Nature Provides. I’m also taking pure whey isolate and seeing if it reduces spikes in BS. I’m continuing to take Forxiga...

Your feedbacks on the best food supplements

I take vitamin B12 and folic acid (to help body absorb B12), because I read that Metformin blocks your body’s ability to absorb B12 which puts you at higher risk for amputations because B12 helps repair. I also take cinnamon because they say it helps - not sure but love the taste so it won’t hurt!

    Forxiga Advice

I’m on Forxiga - my HBAC1 levels were around 120 at the time so doctor added this to Metformin so I took it. 2 weeks ago my levels were around 53 (although 3 weeks ago I stopped Metformin for several reasons). I’m hoping Forxiga is working for me but maybe in a week or two I’ll drop it and see...

    Peripheral Neuropathy

I use a foot massager but also have stopped taking metformin as it inhibits the body’s ability to absorb vitamin B12 which the body needs to repair nerves but still taking my Dapagoflozin. I’m seeing how that will help.

Well...I had to pretend Diabetes was gone, didn't I?!

Thanks Art of Flowers - I've tried to be good today and got a reading of 8.9 this evening which is the first reading I've taken. Just eaten nuts, cheese, pepperami, water and a few cups of tea today. As soon as I can get to the shops I can start to buy other foods as want to follow a low carb...

Well...I had to pretend Diabetes was gone, didn't I?!

I was on this forum a year ago - just before an op where they suddenly took a test and decided I was borderline diabetic and needed it under control before they'd go ahead. So I cut back - I mean REALLY cut back on carbs, lost a stone and generally went super healthy. Then the callback after a...
