I wonder if patients are not always encouraged enough with a good diet before starting medication? This has caused me to research the lower carb higher fat diet. I have been on it a year now and love it. I have also been busy doing a study on the diets effects on patients with an elevated HBA1c which has just passed peer review and will be published by Practical Diabetes in March 2014
In general it's difficult for me to comment on specific cases as its ethically dodgy ground for any doctor. My aim is to show there are doctors who support the low carb approach and to supply evidence for folk to take to their own doctors As part of this I think we are in partnership with our patients and should work with them rather than lecture!!
I am dyslexic so apologise now for any typos also for the fact I cannot enter into the specifics of any particular cases.
