Diagnosed 2 weeks ago (type 1)

You seem to be doing pretty well. I've been T1 for 55 years and gone through a good few changes to the way I control it. I don't have a CGM, just a finger prick test up to 7 times per day. I would be frustrated if my doctors deliberately withheld information from me about my diabetes and would...

    An old timer struggling

It's funny how we all have or had so many different ways of measuring our portions. I was five when diagnosed 55 years ago. My parents and I measured everything in ounces and did a grams of carbs per ounce of foodstuff calculation for total carbs (how's that for mixed units of measurement?). I...

Brianhypno, hi and Glucobabu. I have been on Lantus for about 8 years but had shoulder rotation pain for some time before that. Autoimmune comditions

I was 54 at diagnosis, so quite young for PMR. It can burn out. The steroid is really just to make life tolerable in the meantime and my steroid dose was low, too, as it can raise BG but it still did the job.

What age were you diagnosed Type 1?

Diagnosed at 5 yo in about 1961. Loads of changes since then, thank goodness. Virtually no complications so far.

    Autoimmune comditions

Developed polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) about 7 years ago, which took nearly a full year to diagnose before treatment. Thankfully, now have been off the corticosteroid treatment for over 3 years (remission, yay!).
