My daughter has had 3 out of the current box which bent....unfortunately being a teen she's not great in responding to unaccounted high bloods! But generally, they are fine....pump user for 18 months.

New to forum, 16 year old type 1

Hi there Sarah, my 18 yo daughter belongs to the Facebook group, Type One Teens. It was set up by the daughter, Georgia, of the admin of a couple of parents groups I belong to. It's quite an active little community - no parents allowed! Also, Diabetes UK do some fantastic care events for teens...

    Not coping...

Hi Lisa, bit late to join this one....does your D team have a psychologist? If they do you'll find that they see mum's as well as the child! Also, you might find your DSN is just as supportive and willing to have a chat about your feelings. There are 2 lovely groups on Facebook run by the same...

Really fed up- feeling like a failure as a parent.

As a mum of a 16 yo girl diagnosed last year I can assure you that you are not a failure. T1 is a constant juggle of numbers. Your daughter may well be coming out of honeymoon. You're obviously confident enough to change ratios without DSN involvement which is great. The best advice I had from...

    Travel Insurance Help Required

I always use Diabetes UK for holiday insurance. Yet to need to claim so can't tell you what they're like if you're unfortunate to need to claim on the D side of things but I hope they'd be good.

Hi Rebecca So sorry to hear about your daughter. My 15 yo daughter was dx in June following suspected glandular fever - she had a really painful throat for a couple of weeks and was incredibly tired, then the bedwetting started (I hasten to add she has a history of that) and then I noticed the...

    Bedwetting .....

My 15yo daughter, diagnosed t1 in June has wet the bed for so long now. No reason found. She takes 240mg desmopressin every night and sometimes even that doesn't help. The 2-3 weeks leading up to the diagnosis she wet the bed every night despite the desmopressin, With regards to school trips -...

Exercise, exercise and then do some exercise!

Jaxx - motherhood is a nightmare really isn't it? I've always worked (went back after each child when they were 4 months old). Had kids sitting in buggies on the sideline of hockey pitches when I was playing, took to running with a buggy, then having 2 kids on my bike, then pulling one on a...

Exercise, exercise and then do some exercise!

Since my post I've had to collect my daughter from school - a collision in PE means she now resembles someone who's just done a round with Joe Calzaghe. The new PE teacher she had this morning has phoned up to apologise. I told him to have a nice weekend and not to worry as if anyone was going...

Exercise, exercise and then do some exercise!

My 15 yo daughter was diagnosed type 1 in June. Our GP delayed giving us her blood test results as she is overweight and assumed she was type 2....not quite forgiven him for that. She's overweight because she's a high functioning autistic with dyspraxia and mild learning difficulties - ie low...

I'm not going to answer many of the questions....maybe if my daughter joins, she will! We live in London, have a menagerie of rabbits, hamsters and guinea...

But what did I forget to do today? collect her prescription for more glucose sticks and we don't have any...
