I'm in my early forties and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 3 years ago. On top of that I had open heart surgery in 2014 to have my aortic valve replaced (due to a birth defect) and it has meant that my excersise tolerance has not been good for 6 months and I am piling on the weight a bit. luckily I have managed to keep my blood sugar pretty well controlled but something needs to be done.

I decided to come on here to see if I can get any tips on how to eat healthily for both my heart and my diabetes, lose some weight but still enjoy life cos otherwise, what's the point.
