    Nearing remission without Metformin

So my latest HbA1c came back at 44 from 84 in early December and 69 mid Feb. Very pleased with the gradual improvements, im now back at pre-diabetes levels, touching distance of being able to post in the success story forum. My case proves low carb and exercise is the solution, limited role...

New BG meter, what is the post meal target?

So i received my new Tee2 BG monitor this morning. My reading was 6.2mmol before lunch and then 8.8mmol 2hrs after lunch. This strikes me as v high. However the guide says the target for T2 Diabites is 8.5mmol after meals? Do i need to try stick to max 7mmol to achieve my target goal hbA1C of...

Sudden weight loss, but only moderate carb reduction.

I understand that sudden weight loss is possible on extreme diets like the Newcastle diet or other carb restricted diets. However in my case I have just moderated my carb intake by cutting out chocolates, sweets, cakes & crisps but otherwise eating normal meals. In the process, I have lost...

Prof Taylor on the subject of Reversal.

Im using the Withings weighing scale, which estimates body fat (probably not 100% reliable, but as a rough guide). Im also using a tape measure to track waist circumference, as for me the distended stomach was of concern. Indeed the stomach bloat has reduced by 4' inches on my reduced carb diet.

Prof Taylor on the subject of Reversal.

Prof Taylor’s theory resonates with me. Although on diagnosis my BMI was normal, the body fat % was in the obese range. BMI can be misleading. It’s the body composition that is of significance. Telltale sign for me was my distended stomach. Two months post dx, my body fat % has decreased by...

Improving HbA1c levels. Do i still need medication?

Hi, As a relevatively recently diagnosed (suspected T2), i was wondering if i could perhaps delay starting medication and achieve remission from dietiary improvements alone? My intial HbA1c results on December 3rd were 84. I have since followed the advise on this forum and changed my diet...

Type 2s: How long did it take to get HbA1C below 42

That sounds remarkable to have sudden drops in HbA1c readings at the 2 week and 2 month internals. I have also been contemplating a repeat test after 2 months encouraged by weight loss, i'm expecting a drop in BG levels.

High HbA1C - timming of second test to confirm.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, however in December 2020 my HbA1c came out high at 84 mmol/mol. (Normal level 18-41). I understand for diagnostic purposes you need a second test to confirm diabetes. I was just wondering when i should go for the 2nd test. Is it after 3 months from the first test...
