Doctor said my Hba1c is too low!!!

Thanks Ian, metformin has many other health benefits and helps keep my weight down. I've already put on two pounds since my dose was cut. Time to go out walking in the rain!

Doctor said my Hba1c is too low!!!

Agreed Jim! The practice nurse this morning told me off for checking my BSL myself, said it was a waste of time and money! Little does she know that it was monitoring my levels reaction after food and keeping tabs on my own body that gave me the empowerment to bring my hba1c down to a normal...

Doctor said my Hba1c is too low!!!

Hi bulkbiker, yes I had one on for 24 hours, it inflated every half hour and frightened the life out of me, especially at night time! Consequently I had very high readings 183/110 at one reading, I think that made me technically dead? Readings this morning are finally normal but going to work on...

No, she seemed shocked at the 34 to the point that it seemed she was annoyed!

Doctor said my Hba1c is too low!!!

Thanks for all your replies, a lot to ponder on. I need to ask her (the doctor) for an explanation. A factor that might be relevant is that she changed my blood pressure pills from Ramipril to Losartan, perhaps they are more expensive? And the practice is going over budget?

Doctor said my Hba1c is too low!!!

Over three years I have managed to reduce my Hba1c from 88 to 34. After my last visit to the doctor I was told that my Metformin dose was being reduced from 2 x 500mg a day to just one. The reason given and I quote "We don't like people with type 2 diabetes going to low with their Hba1c" is this...

Type 2 Mushy peas and wonky conflicting readings:

Hi, yes its been over 4 weeks, sorry for the delay! I'm still puzzled why I can take consecutive readings within minutes and they are quite different. Its over two hours since I've eaten....1st reading 5.00 then the next a minute later 6.5. I don't usually do this, I was just curious, too much...

Type 2 Mushy peas and wonky conflicting readings:

I get your point, I didn't wash my hands before taking the reading, and I had been in the kitchen cutting up an apple before I tested. The mushy peas may well have had sugar added, they were gorgeous!

Type 2 Mushy peas and wonky conflicting readings:

I mistrust my meter because it gave three different readings within a few minutes. I'll be giving fried fish a wide girth, not much point in buying if I have to scrape that lovely crunchy batter off!

Type 2 Mushy peas and wonky conflicting readings:

Thanks for that info, I didn't take into account the batter. I'll stick to poached Salmon. I'm still puzzled about the different readings, how accurate is my meter?

Type 2 Mushy peas and wonky conflicting readings:

I had fish with mushy peas for lunch from the local chippy, thinking I'd be safe without the chips. 70 mins later I checked my BS levels and got a 10.5 reading which is very high for me, I checked again immediately using a finger from my other hand and it registered 8.5, checked again on the...

    Sweeteners and Maltodextrin warning:

Thanks for the above Robbity and sorry for being late in replying. As I mentioned to Ross.Walker, I now spend a huge amount of time researching ingredients and it takes a month to do a weekly shop. I have to carry a magnifying glass around with me some of the print is that small!

    Sweeteners and Maltodextrin warning:

Probably on the odd occasion! It takes me twice as long to do a weekly shop now, spend ages reading ingredients and looking at nutritional panels.....haha what a bore!
