    Confused...

Yes and no. The only thing I'd say is never touch anything remotely 'diabetic'. The sugar is replaced with all sorts of synthetic rubbish that'll give you the runs. Other than that, fill your boots, remembering that moderation is key. Yes, chocolate is on the menu too. One or two squares of...

    Denial or just plain stupid?

I love this quote, it's kicked me up the bum many a time.:)

    Denial or just plain stupid?

First of all, well done for actually saying there's a problem. Whether you know it or not, that's far from being in denial. This may sound harsh, but I'm not going to patronise or baby sit you by apologising. You know what's wrong and - reading between the lines - you sound as though you know...

    Eastenders

I was in hospital for 14 weeks at this time 2 years ago - 8cm deep bed ulcer (not diabetes related), now completely fine - BIG lesson learned! There was a point when I didn't know whether I was coming out with 1 leg missing, or in a box. Over the 14 weeks I was split between two hospitals; in...

    Advice needed asap

Hi Char, I can't pretend to understand your situation as I'm T2 diet controlled, so I won't even go there. What I did want to say - hopefully without patronising you - is well done for talking so openly. Have you tried asking your GP for some sort of therapy such as hypnosis, maybe Cognitive...

    Awful1st week

Sorry, but I have to say something here as I'm totally confused. I'm T2 diet controlled and have successfully been so for nine years now. I eat a healthy diet (including carbs and cereals), have no diabetes related hospital admissions, my BP's good, no skin, eye or feet problems; even my...

    Job Interviews

As the word "disability" means barrier (in socio-political terms), it definitely needs to be disclosed - especially if someone's on meds and going for a driving or other physical job, which I'd hope no-one would ever do anyway. It just doesn't need to be disclosed at interview stage.

    Job Interviews

I always said something on application forms as my wheelchair would be the elephant in the room anyway. However, when it comes to the diabetes, no, not at interview stage. In any case I'm T2 diet only so, legally, nobody needs to know until I start meds.

    Type 1 Sickness

Hi Daisy1 I've been a member of the forum for nine days now so thanks for this info. I'm T2 diet-only - 9 years - and my team have never even offered me strips or a meter. The attitude seems to be 'you're T2, you don't need to test your blood, we'll do it'. Consequently, I only know where I am...

    DIABETES PLUS ANOTHER CONDITION

I've been waiting for a thread like this, thanks. I have mellitus, insipidus, spina bifida and a few other bits and pieces. The ones that affect diabetes most are spina bifida, hydrocephalus - literally water on the brain - and a urostomy due to urine incontinence. I have big problems with...
