    Omnipod, successful or otherwise?

Hi there, my son is 6 and HbA1c usually between 8 and 9 and no matter how hard I try I just don't seem to be getting it right. He is currently on two injections of Novomix30 a day and now has an Omnipod to wear for a week to see how he feels about it. Can anyone give me any pointers/advice...

    High blood sugars - help

Hi folks, well I took my son back to doc yesterday and they checked him over again and said that there was no infection. I didn't feel happy at all and rang our DSN who said to just bring him in and they would check him over at the hospital. Lo and behold, he has a chest infection. I now have...

    High blood sugars - help

Thank you both so much for your replies. Sorry I missed info out in my post. He did have ketones first thing (2.4) but they have gone down to 0.2 now. The soluble insulin we have is Humalog which usually brings his blood down pretty quickly but it doesn't seem to be doing the job as well...

    High blood sugars - help

Hi can anyone give me any advice? My son had a cold over the weekend and temp of between 39-40 for two days. His blood sugars were raised (in the teens) and I put it down to the cold. Now we are almost a week on and blood levels still too high and I'm having to give him soluble insulin twice...

Terrified at the thought of a pump for my son.

Thank you both for your replies. I really have felt for a while that the pump would be the way forward for us but I suppose it's just the reality of it I find frightening. It would be an omnipod he would try and it does seem pretty amazing I guess I'm just scared of getting it wrong for him.

Terrified at the thought of a pump for my son.

Had 3 month review this morning and HbA1c gone up for the second time in a row. DSN asked if we had considered a pump and of course I have read a lot about them and wanted more information. My son is 5 and quite keen and I will do anything for better control for him and to make his life...

Can I use Novomix 70/30 and Humalog in conjunction?

Thanks Leggot. We've had great success with Humalog but I just wasn't sure if it was 'safe' to use the two together. That's probably a really stupid question as I'm sure our DSN wouldn't have prescribed the novomix otherwise I suppose.

Can I use Novomix 70/30 and Humalog in conjunction?

DSN has given us new insulin for our daughter, she's now on Novomix 70/30. We have been using Humalog for months to correct highs if necessary and I wondered if we can still use this with Novomix? I was hoping to see the DSN when we picked up medication but she wasn't around and I haven't been...

Help! 5 year old off her food after tummy bug.

Thank you both for your suggestions it's great to get some other ideas. She's just asked for some ice cream so I'll give her some of that and see how we go. It's nice to just talk to other people who know what they're talking about. It's been almost two years now and I still feel like I know...

Help! 5 year old off her food after tummy bug.

Yes, it's a mix so can't cut one out. She will take juice or I wondered about Hypofit? We use it for hypos (recommended by DSN) are is has carbs in to too so I don't know whether I should give her one of them anyway if she won't eat. Or maybe I'm just being ridiculous and panicking...

Help! 5 year old off her food after tummy bug.

She's on Humulin M3 morning and evening. Her blood hasn't been high at all but worrying low so I've reduced her normal dosage slightly but I'm not sure what else to do. She's singing and dancing away beside me just now so obv not feeling ill any more, she just doesn't feel like eating. She is...

Help! 5 year old off her food after tummy bug.

I'm stressing out big style here. My daughter (5) had a tummy bug at the start of the week. She hasn't vomited since Tuesday night and seems OK in herself if a little tired, but she just doesn't want to eat. At all. Even the things she loves, she just doesn't want them and I don't know what...

Has anyone taken a T1 child camping?

Thank you so much Leggott, my main concern is night time too. We get really good readings during the day but I just can't seem to get it right during the night. Will speak to DSN, we're seeing her shortly anyway. Thanks again.

Has anyone taken a T1 child camping?

Thank you both for your replies. I really want her to have a normal childhood and not for her to worry about her diabetes. I kind of feel that's my job while she's so young (5). I do struggle a bit sometimes but I've decided that if I'd let her do something if she didn't have diabetes, I...

Has anyone taken a T1 child camping?

We want to go camping as a family but I'm a little concerned how it may affect DD. We will only be going for weekends away and definitely nowhere too remote. I'll have all the gear I need with me and she will be plenty warm etc so I'm not really sure what I'm fretting about. Probably as it's...
