    Libre 2

I've just taken advantage of the free Libre 2 scanner offer and, after 24 hours, I'm already impressed. I certainly wouldn't bother paying to have one full time but the free trial has already given me some insights as to what happens to my glucose levels around food and, most interestingly, at...

    Yet another newbie

I've not been contributing much lately so I thought I'd give an update. It's a good news story that will hopefully help other newbies be a bit more positive. I had my belated 3 month blood test this week. My original HbA1c was 59.6 (7.6%). The new result is 36.6 (5.5%). So how did I get here...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.2 today which is up a little. Not totally surprised as I had a hectic and stressful day yesterday, topped off with a midnight snack and a large whisky!

Type 1 What finger pricks everyone useing

Yes, I had this trouble with my TEE2 to start with. I once used 5 strips before I got it right! Now I'm a veteran of 2 weeks it's become easier. The key is to get a good bubble of blood. It doesn't seem to work if the blood flow is too weak or too strong, causing the blood to smear. Now I'm...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.4 this morning after a big "test" yesterday. It was my first BBQ party. Wasn't too bad as there was plenty of meat and salad but I did miss having a burger in a bun a bit!

Think I'm being thrown out of the Club?

I recently installed, and registered with, the NHS app. It's a little bit of a faff because you have to upload a photo ID (e.g. driving licence, passport etc) and it also does a facial scan. But, once you're on it, it has a huge amount of data including all your tests and their results...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.6 today. Consistent mid 5s for a few days despite experimenting with my diet so very happy.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.5 this morning..... without the almond snack! May be it was the donor kebab meat I ate last night instead?!;)

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.7 this morning. The almonds seem to be working! I've got "man flu" and I've not done any exercise for two days so I'm very happy with that result.

    Professional advice

Thank you! I really appreciate all the positive reinforcement I'm getting today. I must admit I was confused and conflicted (and a little depressed) after yesterday's consultation but I'm feeling up and determined again today!

    Professional advice

Thanks for the replies guys. I've always been the type to take medical advice. I'm a logical and scientific person. But, on this occasion, I think the experiences of people on here is providing better evidence of what works than the advice I was given yesterday!

    Professional advice

I was a bit low yesterday. I went to see the Diabetic nurse specialist. She kept emphasising that this is a regressive illness and I'm only going to get worse. She was dismissive of the keto diet, saying only small changes to diet were sensible. And she called testing a waste of time as people...
