Type 1 Diabetic With NEW Tattoo

Hi, i have 6 tatts down both arms and am considering more. I have one on my forearm very similar to the pic on the previous page. Rebecca- as was said before, don't get a tatt if the studio doesn't check your age because they are more likely to only care about your money rather than your health...

Son diagnosed last week, Type 1

DON'T PANIC!! your son will be fine. I was diagnosed in '82 aged 7 and believe me the advances in treatment since then are beyond measure. Let him make his mistakes as he makes them, it won't really hurt him and he has to learn. My mum still finds it hard even now to let me get on with it (the...

Hi congrats on joining the club! I tend to fit when severely low and become unconcious below abt1.0 ish. This isn't the case for most tho. If i may i'd like to suggest that you test before you drive and NEVER drive for more than two hours without taking a break and re-testing (please don't take...

Husband Type 1 Diagnosed 7 Wks Ago - HELP!!!

Hi first rule for newly dx'd diabetics DON'T PANIC!! I agree with the previous suggestions about starting at 1u to 10 g carbs and increasing if needed. A small tip for converting the bg levels to English is to divide by 18. Most Dr's over here suggest that 1 unit of fast acting insulin reduces...

    Just out of interest ....

I was 7 when diagnosed way back in 82. It was easy for me to adjust seeing as i didn't know anything different, it got harder during my teens tho and i just said screw this i'll do it my way...hahaha stupid me cos i'm paying for it now. I remember my first injection and that i snatched the...

Wavesense BG Meter launched in UK

Looks pretty good, and the bluetooth function is cool. I'm guessing it only takes one make of stix but doesn't require you to adjust the code like some meters. It'll probably be priced in the £20 + range like the ultra smart which i use.

    Comparison of Blood Glucose Monitors/Meters

Hi I use a onetouch ultra smart, it suits me and tests in only 5 secs with an adjustable finger pricker. It comes with software and pc cable, mind you most meters are pretty much the same these days and as i'm sure most of you are aware we as diabetics don't pay the tax, so it's basically down...
