Covid vaccine and T1D, what are your views?

I had my vaccination on Saturday (6th march 2021) at 1100, it was the astra zenica jab, by 1500 I had turned yellow then hour by hour I got progressively worst culminating in the worst fever I've ever had. Apart from that it was alright 10/10 would do again ...better than dying you know.

    Shift working with Type 1

I don't shift work, I just generally work the Monday to Friday and every third week I'm on 24hour call for that week. I'm up at 0600 and get in at 1800 normally, on my feet all day with a good mix of physical and mental activity and I love it!! More so I feel it helps me keep my bloods in a...

    Late afternoon highs

Have you tried experimenting with different foods for lunch? Or have you started eating something different for lunch? It's noodles that get me...like 4 hours later after stable bloods they just start climbing and climbing, only ever happend when I've eaten noodles...biscuits don't do that so...

    Anyone getting Libre 2 yet?

My nurse text me on Thursday asking if I would like my prescription changed to a libre 2, I declined as I rarely have my phone on me at work and don't have a smart watch because it would last about 38 seconds with what I do for work!! I live in Cornwall but my hospital and team are based in...

Unsure how to calculate insulin dosage? Results seem random.

May I ask a question or two please. You say that before being a type 1 you were type 2...was this a misdiagnosis or were you actually insulin resistant and type 2? How bad is the back ground retinopathy, has it been discussed with your medical professional? It is my believing that it is...

    Freestyle Libre Prescription

I had to test 8 times a day as a minimum for 90 days and keep it in the green!! I need to test like this for my job so found it easy enough to accomplish because I had too. Having the libre now just makes life easier. I still prick test quite a bit because the libres aren't that accurate and can...

High blood sugars after a meal.

It sounds like your insulin isn't acting as fast as you would like it too. What do you take? Are you on a pre set injection dose or do you calculate?? I would try injecting somewhere different for a while. Try alternating between the backs of your arms, I have found (and been told by my nurse)...

Trying to find out if I'm diabetic

You keep bringing up the point that oatmeal makes you feel unwell for long periods of time, even a small amount of it? Could you be gluten intolerant? Coeliac disease and diabetes are like very good friends apparently. The auto immune response to the gluten protein in your intestine can make the...

    Libre and Post-Meal Monitoring

I have only been doing this since September when I was diagnosed but I tested 8 times a day (minimum) for 90 days with a glucomen areo and got my 7 day average to 6mmol. This is what allowed me to become eligible for a libre. I have to test like that anyway because of the job I do, plus I figure...

    Pins and needles

Hey @briony1 , I haven't really suffered with diabetes that long but I've had UC since my teens and I find if it flares up I get off sensations in my left leg. I would put it down to your long term use of anti biotics if you feel that your diabetes has been well controlled but it's well worth...

    Bd microfine needles

Hey, I use the be Viva 4mm X 0.23 mm. I've only been injecting for a few months and use my abdomen for my Novo and legs for my lantus. I do find even now that every so often it hurts, even when cycling areas. I think it may be blunt needles just generally due to mass production. It makes you...

Hypo treatment | Sick of dextrose tablets

Hey, I'm really new to all this but in my teens/ early 20's I was really in to the gym and counting carbs Hey, I'm really new to all of this as I've only been popping lantus and novorapid for 4 months but when I was a teen I was really in to the gym and diet control as I lifted weights 5 days...

    Depression and Diabetes

This is my first post here. It's nice to be able to read all of the nice words from everyone. So I'm 33 (just) and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in September of this year, after wandering around for 3 months or more with a failed pancreas. 99 on the blood test, kidney function of an 80 year...
