I made a short film about diabetes.

Which is actually a spoiler but it's hard not to mention the relevance on a Diabetes forum.. This is from a very real experience I had as a type 1 diabetic. (mod edit to comply with forum ethos)

    Freestyle Libre 2

Now on my 3rd replacement reader and .. it doesn’t work. The idea of these is fantastic and I’ll try the 4th but the frustration is ridiculous. I’m on my tenth total and it’s 50/50 for working/not working

    New Job. Adjusting Injections.

Hi Juicyj, You definitely could end up in a vicious circle injecting between meals although I've always been cautious and not had much room for concern as I'm always careful. This issue I recently had was completely new to me as I rarely had to inject so early in the morning before. I didn't...

    New Job. Adjusting Injections.

Sorry I haven't been back to reply. All I had to do was up my level of Levemir at breakfast to 7 units. Because of my earlier start time (7.45) I was relying more on Levemir and my previous dosage wasnt covering it. Now my blood levels are back to my usual of 4 - 7ml after lunch. Engineer88...

Type 2: Can They Switch to Insulin?

Hi all. After some advice and just a bit of general knowledge here. I'm Type 1 and have very good control. I know a few older people who have Type 2. They always mention their sugar levels are all over the place and they believe the tablets and their diet to be ineffective and restrictive...

    Keeping your morning BS stable/normal.

Hi all. I dont post here often and just wanted to give something back in the form of (hopefully helpful) advice. Ive always found that keeping the morning blood sugar levels low to be somewhat tricky in the sense that I really dont need many carbs to raise my BS above 7 despite having a shot of...

    Insulin doesn't work!!

Hi, ive just been reading through all the replies and while the info has already been posted I thought I would to add how I deal with my diabetes. The more people who post, the more the OP is helped out right? My HBa1C is 5.6% and has been within that range (to 0.1) for two years. Breakfast...

    Background Retinopathy

Thanks for the replies everyone. I do exercise quite a lot and am reasonably healthy on the whole so seems a little strange to me as to why ive now developed this but ill get my blood pressure checked out. My mind is a little more restful now because of your replies. Thanks again everyone.

    Background Retinopathy

Hi all. I just got a letter saying ive got background retinopathy (had the test done on every 6 month check up). Just wanted any extra info that anyone might have here. My HBA1Cs are excellent, 5.4 (9 months ago), 5.3 recently. Is 'background retinopathy' the first step of many potential...

    Bad low - unusual symptoms?

Hi Ken. I could have made that clearer. If my levels drop below 3.5 ill notice a few symptoms in my eyes, dizziness etc and while I will correct this immediately with some lucozade (or something similar) I am fully functional, ie; I know I have at least 10-20 minutes before the situation becomes...

    Bad low - unusual symptoms?

Hi, remember that if your sugar level is crashing, ie; rapidly, then your reading of 2.6 isnt a true reading. I am completely functional at 2.6 if its dipping at a reasonable rate although ive had a bad hypo before (if I recall, my sugar level was around 2.4) and I could barely focus and felt...

Sugar levels after early morning run.

Well, its at 9 for a short time every morning I run, which is 4 times a week. And theres not really anything I can do to keep it lower unless I want to inject 1 unit of insulin before I run, which I can see causing more problems than it solves.

Sugar levels after early morning run.

Afternoon all. just a quick question here. I run four mornings a week, always before I eat breakfast. My sugar level before the run is always between 5-7. When I come back my sugar level is always around 9. I then inject, eat a round of bread with scrambled eggs and my sugar level will soon be...
