    Looping with omnipod

Hi all, I have been using my omnipod for about a year now (would highly recommend). My levels are the best they have ever been and I am proud of the control I finally have over my diabetes. I want to set up a closed loop with the omnipod. I have done some research and have a basic knowledge...

I was amazed at how simple it was. I use Glimp and it was just a tick box and changing the notification sounds so If I go too low at night it will have a chance of waking me

    Riding a Motorbike

Yes I use libre so can see the trend. I also will pull over do a scan every hour and never do a correction until I'm back home and off the bike. No I avoid motorways at all costs and stick to twisty country roads. I wouldn't say I ride close to the edge but enough to get me excited. I have also...

    Terrified about everything!

I think this is really common when newly diagnosed, hospitals seems to deliberately scare newly diagnosed patients in a hope that this will motivate them. In my experience it takes MANY years of seriously un-controlled diabetes to trigger the side effects you are told about. I myself didn't even...

LADA Diabetes Fed up of being a guinea pig

I have T1D. The only issue with weight is trying to keep/gain it. But I can add my 2 cents regarding changing from Lantus to levemir as I have recently switched. Levemir seems to be more flexible than Lantus, I was told a change of dose with lantus takes 3 days where as Levemir is much faster...

    How low can you go?

I've got to admit I have found DAFNE has not helped me either with the exception of speaking to more experienced professionals than my normal DN. Who have advised me a pump may resolve alot of the issues I currently have, and that I should have access to a consultant (only seen a DN for several...

    How low can you go?

Getting a Libre seems to be a postcode lottery still at the moment. The requirements for where I live is to have issues recognising hypo's and to have completed DAFNE. I don't notice hypos until I'm around 2.5 normally and and doing DAFNE now (last day is this Friday). There are a million...

    How low can you go?

You can get a device to attach to it called a miaomiao that can connect to a smart phone/watch and give you alerts. I don't have it yet as I was awaiting to get the libre on prescription first, but I have now ordered 1 now.

    How low can you go?

I don't think there is a specific number (I'm sure other will be able to give better info) If it helps I had a 1.3 during the night on Friday night (libre reading) . The lowest I remember recording on my metre is a 1.1, and I managed to treat that without any assistance needed.

When I woke up it was 3.4 (a couple of hours later) so just had some toast to keep it from dropping, it's been hovering around 5 since. Thanks, I'll drop you a message for MiaoMaio [emoji4]

    Riding a Motorbike

Interesting. The DVLA in UK definitely seems alot more lenient/ignorant. We have laws that apply to low BG (DVLA classes <5.0 as unfit to drive) but nothing about high BG and very little covering eye sight. When applying to have to confirm if you wear glasses/contacts, and that you can read a...

    Riding a Motorbike

What have I started lol I have been to another day of DAFNE today, but had a good chat after with the DN and nutritionalist and got some good advice... We agreed you can clearly see from Libre a spike in BG when I go for some fun on the bike. But that's fine, it's a few hours a week at most...
