Discrimination - what can I do?

I'm going to ask for more info from my GP tomorrow. It just doesn't seem fair that I'm missing out on this because I'm diabetic...and I now have to wait over 3 months for an appointment. The wait at this hospital is 'weeks'.

Discrimination - what can I do?

I'm not sure if I've put this is the right thread... Basically, my GP wants to refer me to a specialist regarding my IBS. For some reason or other, he referred me to a semi-private hospital, so that I could be seen quicker. I found out today that this hospital has rejected the application for...

Peer Support for people with diabetes

Hello, I'm not sure if this post is allowed, but I really want to get the word out about schemes to help us diabetics who are struggling. I have recently become involved in a Peer Support Scheme, set up by Diabetes UK. Have recently received training, and now looking to really promote this new...

Problem with friend over my diabetes

Had a very long chat tonight with bridezilla...gave an hour long lecture on the importance of not screwing around with your body, especially diabetes. Also, I've made it clear that I won't be going to the chocolate factory, because it'll make me feel terrible. She did say she would think about...

Problem with friend over my diabetes

I'm afraid I don't have that art of conversation. Also, I imagine they're going to want to discuss what the chocolate is like, not what's going in next weekend etc :s Diabetes type 1.5 Diagnosed September 2011 Currently on basal insulin

Problem with friend over my diabetes

Thank you for finally addressing this part! As you know, I've only been diagnosed for 18 months, I've had basal insulin a month, and bolus, only a week, I hope I can be excused for being anxious so little on! I've asked my dsn about correction doses, but she said one step at a time. Diabetes...

Problem with friend over my diabetes

The bride is indeed supposed to get everything she wants, it's supposedly more her wedding, than even the groom! When the bride gets a little too into this theory, I call it 'bridezilla' :p Diabetes type 1.5 Diagnosed September 2011 Currently on basal insulin

Problem with friend over my diabetes

Thanks for all your input, everyone. I'm still thinking about this a lot, especially as today was my cousins weddings :) I'm starting to think my friend has taken the 'oh that'll never happen to you' attitude, when I've explained what happened to my grandad. However, my friend struggles with a...

Problem with friend over my diabetes

Re: Ignorance of non-diabetics I understand that I can just take extra insulin, but as I've said in previous posts, I am anxious to do this, after seeing my grandad and other people who do it, ruin their lives. My diabetes also isn't under control yet, so I don't see why I should put a strain...
