    Troubles with T1 control

I feel for you, I really do. I think we all know how you feel to some extent. It’s a vicious cycle For me, and it’s different for everyone, when I get like this I go back to absolute basics and really watch what I eat to get it back under control and minimise the amount of insulin and...

    Libre2 and smart watches

I don’t think you can connect to your watch directly using the libre app. You need to connect the libre to a third party app (I use Shuggah on iPhone, but there are others), disable Bluetooth access for the libre app (v important step), and then in the third party app enable calendar...

What is the best diet a diabetic should be on?

Interesting topic. Totally depends on the person & what your priorities are. Don’t they say the best diet is a balanced one in moderation?? I don’t follow that mantra as I’m veggie [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

    New to all this.

Hi Claire, I was diagnosed July 2018. It seems everyone is different with how long it takes them to return to the new ‘normal’. After dx I went low carb and stopped eating most things I enjoyed, partly to try and prolong the honeymoon and partly because I was worried about injecting a hypos. I...

    NR working too fast?

Hi Shannon, thanks for all your replies. I wouldn't inject with a low carb meal; which to be honest is quite a lot of the time. My insulin ratio is around 1:20 at the mo as I'm still in the honeymoon phase. I do quite often have a carb free, or low carb day and I don't go low. I think my...

    NR working too fast?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried splitting doses/ taking some at a later point and it definitely does help :)

    NR working too fast?

I have increased my basal recently which seems to have helped - think I'm just in a situation where my insulin needs are changing. If i just inject it a bit later I seem to avoid the hypo and not go as high.

    NR working too fast?

Hi Jaylee, I do try to pinch, because if I don't I 100% hit muscle and it stings like crazy. I guess what I mean is even if it appears that I time the injection well with the meal (i.e not hypo after food and good sugars), then about 4hrs later my blood sugar will still be rising (even...

    NR working too fast?

Thanks all - some really useful points. My insulin needs have been changing lately so that might have something to do with it. I have taken to injecting just before a meal and am fine with that hypo wise. The problem is I have a rise later (3-4hrs after...) pretty much regardless of what I eat...

    NR working too fast?

Hi all, Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this - If I pre-bolus my meals (with Novarapid) I almost always go hypo after eating, regardless of what I eat (high fat, low fat etc.) and then my blood sugar rises later. I'm just wondering if either: 1. My body is slow at absorbing...

I sometimes get really hot when my blood sugar is dropping towards hypo territory?... Is there any link with your blood sugars at the time you are hot? Best wishes, Tom

    Drinking black tea

Hi, I've only found that particularly milky drinks (latte for example) have any effect on my blood sugar. How many cups do you drink of black tea and what is your carb to insulin ratio? E.g. I can't imagine the black tea has 50g of carbs in it!??? Best wishes, Tom

    HIIT workouts

I know it might seem like yet more exercise but it might help a bit. In regards to some of the discussions about why your blood sugar spikes, this is interesting: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2769951/ This is a good summary paragraph I think, but it's definitely worth a read...

    HIIT workouts

Hello, I find different types of exercise mess with my numbers in different ways... HIIT and strength work will stick me up high and then I'll come down sharply a few hours later. Personally, what I've found helps is to do 5-10 mins of cardio at the end of HIIT or strength workouts (I run on...
