I knew I was diabetic by the time I arranged to see my GP. I was always thirsty & peeing a lot & it got so bad I was up all night drinking & weeing constantly. When doc came & did blood test he nearly fell over, my level was 30!!! (I had been drinking a lot of fruit juice as well as water), called straight to the surgery to get meds to start immediately as it couldn't be controlled by diet alone. I wasn't surprised, just disappointed. Yet another thing wrong with me!
That was last October. I went through all the bumf on diets & didn't really have to change much at all from what I was already eating, but eating 4 times a day was a huge problem & still is, in fact probably getting worse. I have lost my appetite, only eat probably twice a day & food is tasting funny. despite this I am putting ON weight & when checked my cholesterol level was a bit high & was put on Statins which seem to have no effect. I don't eat high cholesterol foods as a rule so I can't work out this weight problem and it's getting me down.
I am stuck indoors most of the time, I don't drive & I cant go out on my own, My balance is poor, apparently partly due to neuropathy in my feet & I have a fear of falling (basophobia) so I have to rely on others to take me out. Recently started going swimming & most of my exercising is done in the pool.
I live near to several beaches & get frustrated that I can't get down to them! Nor can I get to work on my little garden.
but my friends keep me going & help when they can & my cats are my lifeline. I'd love to have a dog (always had dogs) but I wouldn't be able to exercise them & take them across the cliffs & down to the beach like I used to. so, yes, I do get a bit mardy but try to remain positive most of the
Very little due to physical problems, some exercise at home for back problems & swimming & Aqua Aerobics once a week, wish I could go more as everything so much easier in water. I can't go out on my own so can't even go for walks unless someone with me
