    Allergy to long acting insulins

Mixed insulin is where I started about 20 years ago and I had problems with that, it was a long time so memory is hazy. As things stand I have little in the way of injection sites left as the Levimir has caused lumps in my tummy, my leg reacted pretty quickly when I changed to that. Arms didn't...

    Allergy to long acting insulins

Yes, this is the third time I have had reactions to long acting, I also reacted to Lyumjev in May when the nurse changed me from Novorapid. Apparently there is no way I can have a pump while being a type 2, but as I haven't had any off the tests for antibodies etc there is a possibility that I...

    Allergy to long acting insulins

Hello Not sure if there is any wisdom out there. I have developed a nasty allergy to Levimir, this is not the first time I have had problems with long acting insulins. At the moment I am getting by with Novorapid since May 23rd.. I have presumed type 2, but now the I am asking for blood tests to...

Type 1 Heat and high blood sugar that refuses to go down - any one else?

Oh, maybe it is the heat, I a taking ridiculous amounts of insulin at the moment. Can't get my levels to stay down and steady. I do have other health problems too but until recently keeping this under control wasn't one of them.

    Trulicity

I started on Trulicity about 3 or four months ago and had quite a few symptons for about three weeks. My appetite was supressed and I did lose around 2 stone. However, this past 4 weeks has seen an about turn and I have not lost any weight, my BG readings have gone awry, even with the higher...

    Redundant new insulin pens

Hello I have had a change of insulins and am left with some new cartridge pens, some of which I bought. I have 3 Humopens for Humlin I, an Autopen for Novomix (I believe) and a Novopen 3 for Novomix. All in sealed boxes or packets, unused. Does anyone have any ideas where they could go as I...

    Worst review with DSN

I haven't got to the weight loss bit yet, busy with all my health problems the latest being an impending gall bladder op - so a low/no fat diet. Add to that gluten intolerance, nut, fish, chick peas (on it goes) with thyroid, asthma and Mitochondrial disease I guess things are going pretty well.

    Worst review with DSN

Oh yes, I can relate to this! Spent around 4 + ears asking for help with blood glucose being too high, everyone will frown and tut but not offer the right support. Like you I am Type 2 and on insulin, Apidra and Humiln I. My previous long term was 75 but this week I was absolutely stunned to get...

    Refused PIP

Go to www.benefitsandwork.co.uk there is a PIP 'calculator' that will give you an idea of how likely you are to get anything. It also gives you an idea of what they are looking for to award points to. Always have a supportive, knowledgeable and strong minded person sit in with you who will be...

Trying Low Carb But Disasterous Blood Glucose

Took hubby's (GP) advice in the end along with finding a bit of info for Mitochondrial diets. Having tried the very low carbs at weekend and ending up running at 14's and 15's blood glucose all day Monday and Tuesday, I went onto some complex carb with high protein for each meal, and woke up to...

Trying Low Carb But Disasterous Blood Glucose

Yes, I am trying to get some help from the Mitochondrial Professor that I see once a year, I have just written to her, even if it's a name or article. I currently see consultants in Oxford, Birmingham and Sheffield so am hoping there may be one tucked away at one of these hospitals.

advice on mitochondria diabetes and treatment

Alternatively you may not have DNA related Mitochondrial disease with diabetes. I have one of the other types of Mitochondrial diabetes related to autosomal Mitochondrial disease, ie no inherited defect found (as yet). So, be sure of which type of Mito you have before getting too caught up in...

Trying Low Carb But Disasterous Blood Glucose

My DSN doesn't exist! The one at the surgery has no idea how to work out carbs etc, I have managed a way that kind of works, but my basal may be wrong, or my body might clinging to the glucose...having asked elsewhere it looks like I need to see a diabetic doctor with an interest in...
