Yes, local support is hard to find - this is not a NHS arranged course - the NHS (at present) doesn't recognise reducing carbohydrate intake as a 'solution' to the obesity/diabetes disaster.
In fact Public Health England is still pushing (on TV the other day) it's Eat Well Plate that tells you...
Anyone interested in joining/supporting a local support group trying to spread the word on Low Carb High Fat lifestyle?
Last September I attended a presentation featuring Dr David Unwin, Dr Trudi Deakin (www.xperthealth.org.uk) at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton.
It was well attended and...
Got one of those last week, nearly killed me :( one thick slice with butter spiked me from 5 to 11.5 in half an hour, but was down to 6.5 by 2 hours later (no meds) so don't know where they get the 'low GI' from, seem pretty much like most breads to me - but tasty none the less.
A quick Google...
There's already a thread on these rolls: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/they-shrunk-the-lidl-rolls.106038/
But it seems to have gone quiet, perhaps no news is good news.....
Please NO, if Low Carb goes the same way as 'Gluten Free' then more products may become available, but the prices will rocket.
For most consumers Gluten free has become a fad or 'trend' whether they need it or not.
Just think how much Broccoli will cost if it gets a 'Gluten Free' label......
Lucky you! - most of my freezer stock work out at about 120g, but the 'new' rolls come out at less than 100g. That's 20% reduction in weight for the same price, or a +20% price increase - shame on them!
I noticed the reduction last week and also hope it was a 'blip' but asking the staff (who...
Thanks @AtkinsMo for the clarification, I should have Googled 'net carbohydrates UK' or 'nutrient information UK' earlier.
There is a lot of conflicting info out, mostly on various forums!
Even looking at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/technical-guidance-on-nutrition-labelling didn't...
Thanks I'd kind of worked that out and still experimenting - 'netting' off the dietary fibre content is confusing, I've seen some food quote more fibre than carbs, so how does that work?
Well Metformin didn't stop me getting a bladder tumour - diagnosed in April 2014!
There are supposedly other cardiovascular benefits if you are fat/obese, but at 10st 4lb I don't fit the 'normal' diabetic profile......
I've been popping 2 x 500mg a day (along with 4 x 80mg Gliclazide) for the...
Great post gardel0 - I'm currently on a similar journey, but please clarify carbs/100g - do you mean 0.5g or 5g/100g? - even tinned plum tomatoes have about 3g/100g.......
