I've lived with type one diabetes for over 57 years, since the age of two. I was one of the early users of the insulin pump (37 years), CGMS (over 20 years) and worked on development of the infusion sets, pump and CGMS software as well as features. Currently involved in diabetes support and education, writing books for children in a way they can understand and feel comfortable with.
As a result of support work I've realized that education and training is the piece of the puzzle in diabetes care that is most lacking. I have also designed a computerized game system which tests, checks and teaches people with diabetes the daily routine, carb counting, daily and weekly physical checks, etc.
I attended Cornell University and achieved a dual degree in Chemical and Computing Engineering which turned out to be a perfect background for work in Diabetes Technology
