Hi everyone,

I have a quick question, I checked my mam's BS yesterday and it was 10 after food. I know from being a type 1 myself, that 10 is higher than normal.

She is just back from holidays in america. Its there any other reason, other than being a type 2, for having a BS of 10. She isnt over weight, maybe has a bit of extra fat which she could loose and is 60 years old.

I checked her BS this morning after she fasted the night and it is still 10?

Would it be pre-diabetes?

10 sounds a bit high for a fasting level, I think that would be classed as diabetic. Usual fasting levels are between 4-7. It also depends on what she had eaten the night before.
I think your Mam should visit her GP and have a blood test done.

Alf,

Two readings of 10 could be cause for concern, as it is outside the normal range. Just for peace of mind, I would encourage your mam to visit her gp for a check-up.
