hey

i done a fasting blood test. had to stop eating from 8 last night till 8 this morning, and also read that i should half my slow acting insulin last night so i did. today my sugars have been 16,17 and even 21! i’m now having to not eat for lunch because they won’t come back down ??

sorry forgot to say, would it be ok to inject more slow releasing or should i just leave it and continue as normal tonigh

The job of basal insulin is to keep your blood sugar flat-ish when you aren't eating or bolusing. So if your basal dosage is correct there should be no problem with fasting and absolutely no reason to reduce your basal insulin for a fast. It's pretty obvious your blood sugars are high because you haven't got enough basal insulin. As it's now 13:00 it's probably a bit late to think about taking a top up of basal because you risk overlapping with your evening dose. I'd probably just correct with bolus until then.
