Did you arrange for the fasting blood test through your GP? If so, within the week you'll be able to get the results and have something definite to talk about with the doctor - where you go from here.
In the meanwhile, I'd suggest starting to teach yourself as much as possible about diabetes, so you understand what the doctors and nurses - and people here - are talking about, and why it matters so much. There's masses on this website for starters. I was diagnosed T2 just over 5 years ago and realise how little I really understood at the beginning! But the more I've learnt, the more it's helped me to slowly get a grip on things.
