New wave of insulin patches/pumps...

Been browsing on the web, and have found what seem to be some pretty cool alternatives to injecting, or having a full-on pump with tubing and the like.

I had known about the OmniPod, but it seems a bit 'clumpy' for my liking and the tester looks like it's from the 90's. These seem far better....

http://www.starbridgesystems.co.uk/ - Pretty cool tester, made in the UK too

My personal favourite -
http://www.myfinesse.com/

Now what i want to know is whether or not there is any realistic chance of me getting either of these products in the coming year or so.

Feel free to post any other insulin patches that seem to be particularly cool :D

Hi,

Depends how you plan to get one, if it's on the NHS i'm afraid the chances of something like the jewel or finesse seems very unlikely within a year. Most hospitals bulk buy the same one pump and i know hospitals are starting to use omnipod's but i doubt were close to pumps as pretty as those unfortunately :(

I've no idea about self-funding, especially if these shiny pumps are still on in the US.

I'm 1 year into my accu-chek combo pump, here's to hoping in 3 years these pretty ones are available as i'd easy trade in for one of those (don't tell my pump i said that please) :D

They seem to be snowballing ahead with smaller and smarter pumps, it's quite exciting to thing what they'll be like in 5 years!
