Type 1 Omnipod [emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]] searching for a sensor

Last weekend, at the behest of my consultant, I moved from Dexcom 6 to Libre 2+. I’d been told I would only get readings on the reader, not on my phone but today the reader was searching for the sensor for over an hour before it settled down. The sensor is next to the pump, so it’s not a distance problem. Is searching for a sensor normal with Libre 2+ because I never had any issues with the Dexcom? I also discovered that I could in fact scan my sensor with my iPhone, so was able to track my glucose levels without having to resort to finger pricks, thank goodness. I feel a bit abandoned to be honest. I had Libre training several years ago and used it as a CGM before I got my pump so I thought I knew what I was doing and what to expect.

Hi Hoping I can help. I use Omnipod 5 with Libre 2+ Closed loop. I Starting using this in February. Is the set up you are using ?

No problem I will talk you through things as best as I can. When replacing the sensor make sure the PDM is in manual mode. If you go into manage sensor the steps to follow are there. The sensor takes 1 hour to warm up. Whilst that is going you will see on your pdm searching for sensor. After 1 Hour warm up you should see your glucose on the pdm. Then you can move to automated mode. It will show limited mode until it has 3/4 readings. It should then it will show automated mode. If you go into history and then history detail then auto events you will be able to see your glucose readings and the of amount given.

If you are simply changing your pod it will only take a few minutes for the sensor and pod to make contact. You do not have to switch to manual mode when only changing your pod.

Thanks for your response. I had no difficulty on Sunday connecting the sensor to the PDM. My problem arose today, so days later, when the PDM decided it couldn’t find the sensor. Considering I was sitting down right next to it, I was more than worried. It took over an hour to recognise the sensor which is why I asked if anyone else had had any similar experiences or can I just hope it’s a one-off?
 
Good Morning The only time I have experienced this is when I was trying give my arms a rest. As the sensor has to go on my arm I tried placing my pod on my tummy or back. They did not seem able to connect when I did that and I had to relocate my pod. I suppose line of sight was not being maintained.
