Dapagliflozin newbie

Dapagliflozin 5 mg was added to my prescription after many years on Metformin. After a year, I came off it. I personally didn't like it, finding it made me constipated, and that going on a low carb regime was more helpful. But everyone is different, so you must make a determination together with your GP. All the best.

I can't have anything ending in flozin. I get severe thrush, like, too painful to wee severe.
I'm also allergic to Metformin.

I'm stuck with Linagliptin and Gliclazide

It does seem to work well for others though. It's just me being weird...

@Michael 1701, I also had severe burning wee while on Dapagliflozin, which I didn't associate with the drug for a long time, but eventually a suspicion was my reason for imploring my GP to discontinue it. So far, 12 days later, I still have burning wee, negative for UTI, maybe slight signs of improvement. Was your thrush diagnosed or assumed from the symptoms? Did it improve right after taking a florin? I'm wondering how common serious side effects are.

I haven't taken it myself, it was suggested by my surgery's diabetes team but I refused after reading of some nasty side-effects. Some people do seem to tolerate it well for months or even years so you may be one of the fortunate ones.

What finally decided me against was my dad's recent experience. He was prescribed it (for his heart, he's not diabetic) and was weeing so often he couldn't always get to the loo on time. He also had his first bout of thrush within 36 hours of starting the medication - he's not diabetic so his urine shouldn't be particularly sweet. He's had to stop taking it as daily life was becoming unbearable.

I am on forxiga/dapagliflozin 10 mg as well as metformin and Vipidia.
I recently had surgery under GA and had to stop the Dap 4 days beforehand.
I could see a major difference in my BG control, which settled down again after a few days back on the Dap.
I am having burning sensations when I wee, but I was catheterised so that sensitivity takes a while to clear.
Had a dip test on Friday for UTI which was negative, but considering a full lab test next week (tomorrow) just in case.
All in all I am a fan.
Especially as I saw such a marked difference when I came off it.
