Libre 2 Plus sensors not lasting 15 days on a regular basis

I'm currently using the Libre 2 Plus sensors and am a Type 1 diabetic for over 50 years.

I find the sensors stop working well before the replacement deadlines. This happens on a frequent basis. I continually have to phone Abbott to replace them. They do that but it is very frustrating and I wondered if anyone else experiences these problems.

Thanks

Ruth

Well done for ensuring replacement. As a well controlled type 1 diabetic for over 40 years freestyle libre + system is very much appreciated and useful. Significant failure rates, I find over 90% do not last stated duration, mean Abbott is breaching promised contract requirements and must pay for it. This will not hinder Abbott profits, latest reported above $2billion net, but hopefully ensures NHS and ourselves get best value.

Please encourage all NHS prescription freestyle libre 2 plus users to report sensor failures to Abbott at [email protected] or freephone 0800 170 1177 who promptly provide a replacement. Based on latest NHS drug tariff for the sensor this results in conservative estimate of over £100 million public cost saving. Any funds will hopefully be spent on something beneficial and worthwhile.

I use both phoñe app and reader which hospital renewed recently.Sensor doesn't actually fall off but reader tells me I require a new one.GP is only allowed to prescribe 2 each month Abbott always replaces sensor which doesn't last.

Hi,

Sorry you’re having issues.

Could you elaborate?
How long do you estimate the Libre sensor actually lasts?
Are you getting any error messages on your device?

I’m on a “batch prescription with these. 2 a time. However, I tend to order from the chemist the next lot just when I have fitted the last sensor.. normally a 2 day turnaround on my request.

I’ve been using the 2+ for 8 months now just one failure which was one which didn’t start. Every other one has lasted the full 15 days.
