I have just been prescribed Mounjaro and the surgery are going to prescribe 4mm needles. Before they did I had a quick Google and read that people with lots of subcutaneous fat (guilty!) may need longer needles eg 8mm.

My question is how will I know if 4mm needles are too short? The surgery will change them if I need longer ones but didn't advise me how I could tell.

That used to be the advice years ago but studies recently have shown that the shorter needles are as effective irrespective of the amount of fat a person has. They only need to go through the outer layers of skin and there's not much variation in the thickness between body shapes. The shorter needles do less damage than the longer ones as they can be a finer needle.

4mm are what I use for insulin (both of them) as gar as I know kike above it only need to be beneath the skin
It must work because of how well my sugar levels have dropped since using them. Also I personally think they look less scary
