I have been using Levemir as my basal insulin for about 20 years. Having been informed that it is to be discontinued this year my prescription has been amended to Tresiba FlexTouch 200.

I still have 4 weeks supply of Levemir of which I take 8 units twice a day 8am & 8pm.

Having not heard of Tresiba before, does anyone have experience of using it? Does it really work for a full 24 hours for example?

Any comments would be welcome.
 
Never used it but having to change insulins myself due to shortage of Trutapi to Novorapid
you are best to speak to your diabetic nurse or Dr even pharmacist regarding dosing advise really

It lasts more than twenty four hours. Thirty six hours plus. It is very forgiving if you forget a dose. Drawback being you have to allow two-three days for effects from changes carried out. You couldn’t for example have different amounts for weekends/weekdays/exercise days.
 
I've never used it, so maybe this is a daft question, but I just wondered why you were moving to flextouch 200, rather than 100.
 
I use tresiba, its really good as you only need to inject once a day
was taken off novorapid as it was too dear my doctor practice said
my needles were changed too and have managed to get back to bd micro fine
why they do this is annoying

I too am due to change from levemir to Tresiba.
I chose the penfill option as i use a novopen echo as that is what i use for my levemir.
I talked my GP into this by actually demonstrating the memory function in her insulting room.LOL

I take 10 units am and 14 pm currently but when i change i'm going to start on one dose of 16 and am armed with a sensor, novorapid, jelly babies and my wits.
I don't see a specialist or DSN as i've been doing my own thing for so long i am used to it and my libre and me are at one but we are all different so i never recommend my way of doing things!

I wish you well and do please keep us posted as i've still got buckets of levemir to use up before i change.

My gp didn't know you can use the pen to check when you last injected.
I'm not going ga ga just a bit forgetful and i find it really useful.

To be fair it’s not about being forgetful, it’s the fact that we are doing this repetitively day after day so it becomes easy to doubt ourselves.
