I work shifts, so starting at 1400 and working to 2100 is a regular event. At my review I was told off for eating when I got home, as 'the food would be lying in my stomach while sleeping:. The thing is, if I'm late I don't go to bed until 3. It sounds like a case of 9 to 5 thinking overruling 1400 to 2100 thinking.

I agree, its similar to those blood draw forms saying to fast from 10 PM. Slots for a blood draw are available starting at 8 am but I prefer to come in at 1 or 2. I'd much prefer if they told you how many hours to fast instead of a time they apparently expect you to go to bed.

As for this part, I'd ask them to provide scientific proof in the form of publications that this is a bad thing.
Many people do not like to go to bed on a full stomach, which is fine. But is it a bad thing for people who like a substantial midnight snack, and why?
I usually eat something right before bed, calorie wise it's my third meal of the day. My lab results are all fine so I have no idea why this would be a bad thing if it suits me.

We should note that animals, when they have the choice, will sleep after a meal. Can't be that bad, can it? I note that some people like to make up "rules" to show how clever they think they are.
