I am David a 72 year old living in Grimsby last six years after leaving Leicester after retirement. I had been drug free all my life none smoker and drinker.
This is my story and my adventure in the life of a new diabetic person.
I hope this read right I am saying it as If I am telling my story so typos and all is in it.
Well here goes. I had not had any diabetic issues no bathroom visits or dry mouth.
No idea I just felt my ruptured tendon had taken some of my health along with it.
I went to the doctors for a yearly blood test. they found I had become prediabetic. all my blood results out of synch.
I have been recovering from a Achilles tendon Rupture in and had gained weight during my inactivity. I thought I was comfort eating and lacking movement. Now I believe I had a eating problem, my body was seeking a fix in sugar. I have since June 2026 lost 28 pound which is 13 percent body weight. I have stopped sugar, fat, changed my diet, Really changed it. I am on a calorie low diet with reduced sugar and fat intake. Yes its hard. I am drinking water and stopped soda drinks.

Well David was told I needed to see a Diabetic nurse due to the test results.
The diabetic nurse told me! Well your diabetic, I am going to go blind, My limbs will drop off and I will no longer work below the waist.
What! Yes She Did say That. Really. I am no longer going to visit after that insult.
Then it was where is your urine sample? I have already done it! ho yes its normal. Then why have you had three blood test.
I had the yearly. eleven days later another then another eleven days another and yes my spikes where dropping. I
was 59 then dropped to 52 in 22 days in my blood sugars.
You need to have medication she said I said no I want to wait so I have refused medication added to my records.
I refused medication because they want to do a blood test for my theroid, bloods are stating under active so I am waiting for that test In September, I do not want medication to alter my blood sugars which where already dropping, I had lost 7 percent of my body weight from June to July 2026, no well done just shocking insults from Diabetes nurse.
I have not seen any Doctor to date I know four doctors have seen my results but no Doctor spoken to me just a rude nurse. No help and false reporting stating things I was supposed to have been told. I have submitted a complaint. My records are not me they are me recovering from injury. I now can walk and am in recovery with my foot. The swelling now going and I am able to walk on a tread mill.
Today 28 August 2026 I am around a 13.5 percent weight lost with diet. I was told reversal is not possible when I said I want to get into remission.
I overcome ulcerative colitis over 50 years ago that a long time in remission from that. I do not believe in can't.
My next bloods will be tested in October this year I intent to see then about if I have to have medication.
I believe my body was in stress from my Tendon being torn. then with blood thinner My blood spiked but thats not taken into account.
My liver was showing fatty so I need to drop that which as been dropping since my first test.
I feel fitter and better My present weight at just under 200 ibs so a long way to go yet.
I am not trusting the process with NHS because at 20 they wanted to cut me open and remove parts of my organs I refused and recovered.
I have been scared by NHS health people who should have know more. back when I was bleeding they said there is no cure.
Today ulcerative colitis is understood. One day so will diabetes. been around forever. one day they will find it sooner treat it sooner.
If I had watched my weight gain I might have avoided this but maybe not.
Now I really do feel I am fighting this in my own way. I should not feel this way but I do at present.
That might change once I come to terms with this.
