Hi David - I was initially diagnosed T2 (later T1) and first course of metformin was a disaster. Within a few days my doctor switched me to a different brand (Stagid) and it's largely been fine (I've been on it for 4years now). Recently I travelled to Brazil and mislaid my medicin bag during security check on the way, so I had to obtain a completely different metformin product on arrival (check with my doctor beforehand).. and it was completely fine.. zero side effects!.. so the point of all that is to say that your doctor may be able to subscribe an alternative that is better suited to you. You should consider requesting an emergency appointment if you really cannot take it..
