How many units in a pre-filled pen?

Hi

I'm trying to calculate how much insulin I'd need to take away with me when I go travelling.

I use pre-filled insulin pens (levemir and novorapid).

Am I right in thinking that there are 300 units in a single pre-filled pen or is it 100 units?

Also when doing calculations, how much would you account for air shots?

Remember to pack a few extra pens in case any get lost or break for any reason. And if flying, keep it all in your hand luggage as it will freeze in the cargo hold and become useless. :)

Hi goji .

It is always a good idea to take along a ' spare pen ' when travelling .
Just in case of any breakages, damages, pen not work 100% , etc...

I did this when on holiday and was caught out with a problem with mine .
Thankfully I 'had' taken a spare along with me .

Same with insulin cartridges - always best to take an extra along - just in case . :)

Anna .

Thanks guys for the swift advice!! I hadn't thought of taking spare pens - I'll definitely add that to the list!
