I am new to this forum. I have had type 2 diabetes for about 5 years now. I take Metformin, 2000mg a day, to control my blood glucose. For the last two months my strip tests have been steadily rising. In the morning my blood sugar is around 20 mmol/l and rises to around 26mmol/l by late evening. I recently had some blood tests (including HbA1c) and they showed a high value. They also revealed abnormally high RBC.
My doctor advised me to see the practice lead diabetes specialist. Unfortunately, he is on holiday for three weeks and I can't see the practise diabetic nurse for another month.
These blood glucose levels make me feel as if I have been hit by a train.
Can anyone tell me what is a safe level of blood sugar and if I should be seeking help before my doctor returns from holiday.
