    No guidance

This is not only nonsensical advice in the U.K. but nearly universal bad advice in the whole world. Why ever would a person who is a type 2 diabetic eat anything that makes their blood glucose go up significantly? I personally have bouts of stupidity but not for long, as I realize that I'm being...

    No guidance

My personal take on T2D is that you should monitor your own blood glucose before and after eating, then avoid anything that makes your blood glucose rise too high (my personal limit is 7.8 from a before reading of average 5.5). As I am not a good follower of my own advice, I'm not the one to be...

    Query about BS levels

I am certainly no endocrinologist, but using a blood glucose monitor before and after consuming any foods is a very useful way to gauge exactly what is happening with your own BG levels. Tracking these measurements in a spreadsheet so you can easily see what happens over time, and especially...

How did you get here, how have things changed and where are you going?

Sounds like a bit of something from a science fiction movie. When I closed my eyes, I was reminded of the movie "Forbidden Planet"...

    I am so incredibly frightened

Hello Diane... As others mention in this forum, do get yourselves a blood glucose monitor and test/record before and after eating/drinking anything. Doing this will ensure that you know what foods cause blood sugars to rise uncomfortably. Also, there is a lot of helpful information and support...

Need advice with my low levels and new drugs

Also agree with others here, don't take your health lightly, if something is making you ill, get to your doctor ASAP. Use your blood glucose monitor to determine what is happening, and if something conflicts, then stop doing whatever it is and seek professional medical help.

    Cbd Oil Vs Metformin

We have it here legally also, but some people swear by it, others swear at it. I guess it is like a lot of other pain medications, what works for some does not necessarily have the same effect on others...

Well folks, had never even heard of "scratchings" until this forum and had to look them up, just plain old pork rinds, which we sometimes take canoeing...

You can't always believe what you read.

I have been looking at the Freestyle Libre and on checking the Canadian prices I see one can be had for $227 which includes the reader and two test sensors, each sensor good for 14 days or so. The replacement sensors are $89 here, so for one year you would need 365/14 = 26 sensors x $89 =...

T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

I have to ask, after catching quite a few frogs as a child, I have never ever thought of eating their legs. Do they taste like chicken? My mother, who turned 99 on Dec 07 last year has entertained thoughts I may be an alien life form (long story) and I may have mentioned to her that what if "my...

T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

Thanks, I always use the blood glucose monitor to test before and after (every 15 min for 1 hour, then hourly for 2 more hours) when I try anything new, and the grapefruit juice/vodka combo has minimal effect on that. At age 71 my only medication is metformin (500 mg twice a day) and nothing for...

    Sausages and burgers

Going to "Five Guys Burgers and Fries" for lunch today. We usually get the "Little Hamburger" loaded and on lettuce instead of a bun, so carbs are approximately 50. Indian food like tandoori chicken is fine and the real yogurt with lemon or orange peel slices is great, but rice or naan bread is...
