Done with lantus, what next? Tresiba, Toujeo?

I'm finishing a few months trial of Tuojeo. I had been on Lantus for many years beforehand. I'm about to try Levemir. My experience, my 7am Tuojeo dose hits me very strong at roughly 2pm thru til 6pm. And then it completely disappears, ineffective. Diabetes nurses were annoyed at the new...

    Breakfast.....cereals

I don't do low carb: I depend on (toasted)nuts n seeds as a bulk in my home made granola, but different to JoeyJava's in that I use lotsa ground almonds, toasted coconut, with .scraped orange peel and lotsa toasted fennel. for flavour. Add oil n sweetener. Add up the weights, figure out a rough...

    Hypos and Marching Band

You'll need to be eating cement to stabilise your bloods!! I wonder if you put out a request on a local forum, is there a diabetic in the area with a spare meter and test strips, if you have a minutes break maybe do a test or 2, see if your blood sugar is under 4...

    Hypos and Marching Band

I've type 1, I find when I eat an egg and ordinary tinned baked beans in tomato sauce, e.g.; Heinz/ bachelors/ Lidl brand I keep very stable blood sugars for the next 5+ hours (not lentils/chickpeas or anything). I eat this an hour or 2 before walking. This meal gets me thru 20 km hill walks...

    Knee pains - Vicious circle

And would you consider using those light Nordic walking sticks? They Do reduce the impact on knees when your foot hits the ground. I've seen people jogging uphill with light sticks too.

    Tired of type 1

On a practical note, Pancreas Problems, do 2 or 3 of your usual pals, the ones you hang around with most often, do they know to get you sugar in water if you have a bad low blood sugar(this can happen the next day after drinking alcohol or many hours after exercising). It's great if they notice...

Tuojeo users- any thoughts on patterns/ doses

I'm new to Tuojeo...I've moved to it from Lantus. I was told Tuojeo will mean I won't have hypos during the work day(physical work). Do you find it lasts 3 days? My consultant told me it does. I'm not convinced. Would you mind giving me an idea of your doses (pm is grand)? I take 12 units (I had...

Over correct for big highs, under correct for just above target range?

Same here, I gotta increase my insulin 'ratio' when my blood is over 14-16. If blood sugar stays 'stuck' for a couple of days, I do 'control days' e.g., I just eat apples and maybe cornflakes/ ricekrispies/ rye crackers for 2 days, til the blood sugars drop. On control days, I test aaall the...

    Change to Tuojeo?

becca59 and Cumberland, thanx, you have me certain it's worth trying it. Thanks for the links kitedoc, I appreciate that. Hear ya loud and clear about your initial struggle JoanPH, so far, I gotta say I find with every insulin changeover I spend a few weeks on very low carbs to curb the high...

    Change to Tuojeo?

We decided on Tuojeo because of its flat 36 hour span. My workday is physically unpredictable, the idea seems to be that Tuojeo works very quietly and I won't get as many hypos, or high sugar readings. I'd love it if anyone with experience, good or bad, of Tuojeo will feed in. Meeting the DN...

    Change to Tuojeo?

-has anyone switched from Lantus to Tuojeo? - can you tell me did you continue taking a little Lantus on day1 of the changeover? - I understand Tuojeo doesn't really 'peak', what do you think? - is Tuojeo able to control sugars during sick days? - have hypos decreased/ blood sugars stabilised?

    Type 1'stars R Us

Hiya, I want to ask people about changing from Lantus to Tuojeo and -where do I ask!? I'm a bit lost... - I want to know how mild tuojeo is? As in, if you're ill, and unable to eat, do you continue take your usual tuojeo dose or do you halve it? So I read that the initial change from Lantus to...

    Wanting to change basal insulin.

smag3, how did the change to tuojeo work for you? My consultant suggested I use it instead of Lantus, because my workdays cannot be pre planned and some days are so physical that I have low sugars over many hours. He says Tuojeo is a flatter insulin and it doesn't matter if diabetics forget a...
