    please can someone help!!

Exactly right, Smokey. Your medication for the brain condition is a must for your quality of life. Massive headaches daily would make life impossible. You may just need to go on a more aggressive blood sugar lowering regimen like insulin to control the blood glucose levels. Uncontrolled blood...

Not really sure what I'm doing.....

Hi Bigredpig, Welcome to the forum! I too am an avid cyclist post my diagnosis of diabetes. The oral meds and a lo carb diet weren't bringing my numbers where they needed to be. My insulin resistance at 136kilos, no matter how few carbs I ate didn't get my numbers in shape. Though exercise...

feel weak and no energy after a virus

Welcome 159redbus! Though we're not doctors here we have a lot of experience. And I can, for one, tell you that ong bouts with a virus can indeed affect your blood sugar control. And depression from the obvious loss of a spouse (my deep condolences to you) can also very much mess with our...

    600 calories to "reverse" Type2

I would only add that "just because something CAN be done, doesn't mean it's efficacious to do so, much less 'healthy to do so'. That's my thinking.

Swedish review study of diabetes research

Alcohol is sort of a 'fake out' helper for BG glucose control in that it 'ties up the liver' from dumping for the period the alcohol's in your system. The liver eventually gets done cleaning up the alcohol and then often returns to 'dumping' at will so the only thing alcohol does for you is buy...

    600 calories to "reverse" Type2

Oh PLEASE report back as soon as you get your answer. And lots of details. I can't wait to hear what a couple of docs say about this 'new find'. Thanks for asking!!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

You could maybe start a thread, Spearmint, logging your daughter's progress. I know I for one would follow it and maybe offer insights. We all need support. It would be great if we could keep this thread 'on target' - but neither do I want to squelch, in any way, this wonderful camaraderie it's...

    600 calories to "reverse" Type2

Yes, great point. No matter how you look at - we're talking about a starvation diet here -- for an adult that is. But I'm still SO intrigued by the elimination of the fat around the organs that this diet produces. That has to be 'good' - even though the methodology is harsh to say the least...

    600 calories to "reverse" Type2

It's Only about 4oz of food per meal. I doubt that could spike anyone's sugar no matter what the carb ingested. I could be wrong though. But the severe calorie restriction IS in the equation of the dispelling of the hyperglycemia.

    600 calories to "reverse" Type2

Problem is, Bowell, they didn't follow the test subjects long enough, in my opinion, to make the broad conclusions they're attempting. And the info shared on Bariatric surgery patients is often 'short term' too. We need need more 'long term' studies. Like what happens to bariatric surg patients...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Yep! That was my intent in creating it and how it's worked at a couple other forums I frequent. The issue is for people to stop in in the am - say hi and report a number and 'share' their thoughts ABOUT their ''personal" goals and how the number is meeting their goals or NOT and 'why' they think...

Another reason to watch those carbs...

I've found a real friend in the Ezekiel Sprouted Bread - sourdough and wheat varieties. Actually 'helps' my Bg levels staying normalized.. Who knew? I wonder if it's proved for the 6 hours being talked about here.. My wife is Coeliac's. What it doesn't explain well -- is why people get an...

re reversal of type 2 diabetes

There are currently two concurrent threads going on about this on the forum now.. So I'll post this here too in case it intrigues anyone.. The most compelling aspect of this study to me, though way too small to really be taken seriously, is that it refers to the fat around ORGANS being...

    A Little Frustrated..

I tend to agree here with Hobnoblin. In the first 6 months we all need to learn to 'eat to our meters'. But once we know what certain foods do the 'need' is lessened. Now my personality type too Type A to ever go donw to a couple times a day only. So after two years I'm still at least a 5-6x a...

    Saying hello...

Hi Trace and welcome. You'll do fine with that attitude too!! -- read a lot here. Ask a lot of questions. It's a new journey. But 2 years from now you won't believe the difference in your health and overall life!!!

Diagnosed as Type 2 and given Metformin - worried!!

Take a deep breath, Paul! Welcome to the forum and to the club noone wants to be a member of. But you are now and you're among family. I'm two year into this journey as of the 15th of this month (July). And life is WAY better for me healthwise than 2 years ago. Hang in there. You've gotten great...

    Diet and BS....

Keep up the self education, James. THANKS the very best approach. Atkins style can sure help you manage the D but whether or not you'll like the way you feel on that regimen is another story. And whether you want to live that way for life is yet another issue. But it 'will work' to control the...

    600 calories to "reverse" Type2

The most compelling aspect of this study to me, though way too small to really be taken seriously, is that it refers to the fat around ORGANS being dispelled in the 8 week period and that at least for several more 'months' the diabetic T2 symptoms did NOT return. That angle I really hadn't heard...
