What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Nodding my head up and down at this. Maybe a future plan. For now I'm still getting over giving up nicotine lozengers so as long as my carbs are under 20 I sigh with relief.

For my next endeavour (pancake recipes please)

Thank you as ever @lovinglife . 7 carbs a serving is quite high for me but it looks like there are a few pancakes in a serving and I would only need one as a treat rather than a meal so perfect.

I'm exactly the same @Antje77 . For many years I was a single mum to two boys and determined they would enjoy every celebration. As teenagers they believed they had to be home for dinner on these days and it stuck. Hence haggis on Burns day and St Andrews day. Pancake day for us has no more...

I looked at this @Antje77 and was about to start copying the comic into translator when I realised it was in English below. phewww. Please keep this link far away from my grown boys who would love it and need no excuse for being ridiculous.

I found it! Thank you @AbbayMel for another great resource. In this instance these are English pancakes and whilst I've nothing against good English fayre, Scottish pancakes are smaller, less crepe and more fluff, like American pancakes.

For my next endeavour (pancake recipes please)

I'd like to try making very low carb pancakes for pancake Tuesday on the 13th. Baring in mind I'm new to this cooking malarky, does anyone have a straightforward recipe I could try. I already have loads of ingredients and don't mind buying anything I'm missing.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Can I join the what you ate team? I read the thread every day and have had lots of inspiration but have never posted because it often (to me) seems a bit "fancy" (pre-diagnosis my family had their main from one drawer in the freezer and their side from another) This morning I was thinking one...

Aldi recognise the low carb community

No flaming here. I think that's why its so disappointing there is no nutritional info on the recipes because low carb means different things to different people. I have a niece who only eats three quarters of the mashed potato on her plate because she is "watching her carbs"

In defence of low carb subs

Very, very interesting I've noticed a couple of times that "fitbakes" although advertised as 1 carb make me a bit higher than I would like. Not really a spike but high 6s low 7s when I've been expecting high 5. I've never really thought about it because I only have them on the tail end of a...

Chaffles are a hit here too. I make a batch in the afternoon then reheat them at dinner time and dish them up as sides for things like gammon steak or pork chops. I think my grown up boys see them as potato waffles or chips and happily chow down.

Hi @Lakeslover I think a thread of favourites is a great idea and I would certainly contribute and make use of it. I'm sure such a thread already exists and maybe somebody smarter than me would find it but if you want to go for it with an easy search title I'm in.

Thanks @shelley262 and I agree with your entire post. I'm surprised often at how small my portion sizes are and how full I feel compared with a year ago. At this stage (5 months in) I seem to have replaced hunger with fear of hunger so I'll shop and plan as though I still ate massive amounts...

@MrsA2 Thank you, just thank you. Last night I added this forum to my gratitude list. The support and encouragement I receive here makes a real difference to my journey. My mental and emotional health is honestly improved through the "pats on the head" and lets me feel I'm doing okay. I was at a...

oh @JoKalsbeek it was lovely, absolutely lovely. I had my 2 squares (which, when I unwrapped turned out to be 4 tiny squares) and put it away then five minutes later I needed a chunk of cheese just to change the taste or I absolutely would have gorged the lot. Yum yum yum
