What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

13.5 - had a terrible night’s sleep. Still down on yesterday though

Of all changes in your "old" lifestyle you had to do, which one was the most difficult?

I'm not ashamed to say I love bread, crisps, pizza etc far more than steak, eggs, bacon. That's no doubt what got me into this mess! I found those hard to give him, but found the more obvious sugary stuff (sweets, cake, chocolate etc) far easier.

Newly diagnosed and still feeling awful

What I would say is that you're 10 days in. You need to be a little gentler on yourself. Getting your BGS from 28 to 7 is incredibly good, and if you keep up the low carbs you'll be at non-diabetic levels in no time. Keep the faith and get yourself another couple of weeks sickness absence if...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Here it goes. After another long period of diabetic denial, we go again with the low carb.... Yesterday - 17.3 Today - 14.1

Struggling to get to grips with T2

I’m in the same boat. Was diagnosed 4 years ago and it shocked me into a low carb diet, and I lost around 3 stone. Gradually ‘treats’ crept back it and now my bloods are out of control, even though I’ve kept the weight off and eat nowhere near as badly as I used to. I feel like I’m in denial. I...

    First Christmas as a diabetic.

I should imagine you'll be absolutely fine with the pate, you just need to find something less carby than toast to put it on.

Statin use and progression of diabetes.

I developed Type 2 after aggressive statin (& more) treatment for Familial Hypercholesterolaemia. Pick your poison I guess.

    Juggling Diabetes & Mental Health

I might give that a whirl @Dr Snoddy I've had a bit of good news this morning. My eye review (the first in nearly 3 years) came back all clear. It's been a source of low-level anxiety for a while, so hopefully I can use this slice of luck to give myself a kick up the **** diet wise.

    Juggling Diabetes & Mental Health

Thanks Juicyj. I did have a course of CBT some years ago but did not find it helpful. I've had the most success with a mix of medication (which I remain on), exercise (I walk 10k steps most days) and reducing stress in my day-to-day life. Unfortunately, the latter of those is a problem. I have...

    Juggling Diabetes & Mental Health

Finding it really hard to motivate myself to manage my diabetes. I start out each day with good intentions, but end up giving up and eating all the wrong things. I know I'm shortening my life and risking awful complications, but I'm just so miserable and can't seem to get a grip on myself...

    Skin sensitivity

I get little sharp pain in my toes which I assume is due to my high sugars. Luckily not too painful yet. Where are you experiencing the pain?

    Eye complications

I've had floaters all my life, decades before I got diabetes. I remember going to the doctor with them when I was about 12 and being told they're harmless. It's weird now because I'm waiting for my eye-screening results and panicking because I've got floaters.

BG dropped from 11.2 to 3.9 after HIIT..normal?

I remember once going from 16mmol/l to 4.2mmol/l in reasonably short order, and got hypo symptoms to boot. I think occasionally the struggling pancreas might still occasionally burst back into life.

    Gliclazide - Potential Side Effect

Since being prescribed Gliclazide, I’ve noticed that eggs taste absolutely disgusting, which is a bit of a blow to someone on a low carb diet! Obviously there could be another cause but I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. I know COVID can affect tastebuds but I’ve not...
