There's something in my mind about a Hairy Biker tip for poached eggs. I think it was @Annb that mentioned it. It was the traditional way of poaching (with a dash of ACV, slow simmer, swirl etc) but before you got to that you put the egg, in its shell, into boiling water for 20 seconds. Then...

I've been experimenting with a recipe for sole veronique. On my CMT but again here's the link. https://www.copymethat.com/r/1db1ng7an7/lemon-sole-veronique/ I am considering using it for a starter at Christmas. I've made it 3 times now using this recipe and I prefer white sauvignon blanc...

I make it at Christmas (a low carb version). Recipe is on my CMT but here's the link. https://www.copymethat.com/r/oiM3IfrXw/low-carb-baileys/ A word of warning, this has to be warmed VERY slowly to dissolve the sugar substitute. It always worked well with the Lakanto Monk Fruit but I've run...

A few more food posts. I've been making chicken curries lately, with cauliflower rice. I tend to mix it with peas, sometimes jumbo spring onion and parsley. The middle picture should have been duck, but ended up as a kind of chicken cacciatore. The final dish is using SRSLY angel hair pasta...

Well that worked out well trying to be better posting! I was slowly being driven do lally with everything I had to do. I eventually decided the break in Stirling was not enough, and advised hubby we were going to York in the October school holidays. First thing I did once hotel & train was...

I'm miles behind yet again. I got caught up in tutoring grandson for the first round of senior 3 assessments. Far from easy when he was grieving the loss of his beloved pet dog. Then had to encourage grandson out for his birthday, younger grandson was competing again (he won all his races), and...

We're all devastated, particularly the boys. The eldest is hanging by a thread, and the younger bottled it up until this morning. You really could not meet a nicer natured dog. I really loved this photo of eldest grandson and Lincoln from probably about 9 years ago. We've got loads of humorous...

He's survived way past their normal lifespan. He was 14 recently, which is a good age for them. He really is a lovely natured dog. I cheered the boys up with some of his antics when they were too young to remember.

I wondered what the situation was, but I was almost afraid to ask. I couldn't see an update from their last escape.

Monday 2 September - back to school again. Sad news today, too. Son & DIL'S big leonberger will be put to sleep on Thursday. That's him about 3 years ago. He's the nicest dog ever, but he has cancer, and the vet reckons it's time. Boys are desperately upset. We all are, but it is affecting his...

The good thing with being a regular customer is they will take orders from you over the phone, they deliver to me if I'm unwell, they do GF stuff for grandson, and they'll butcher meats certain ways if I request it. That's service you don't get in supermarkets. The meat is all top quality too.

Sunday 1 September. Despite my continuing gout issue, I managed to get grandson to his swimming. He was very helpful and carried the bags. It's a lot better. I reckon maybe one or two more days on colchicine should remove the last of the pain. It does still look rather horrible in colour. That...

We've just had a butcher reopened after Tesco successfully managed to put the three that had been there previously out of business. They succeeded by having a butcher in store (also a deli counter and a fishmonger). Once the competition closed down, they also closed their counters and reverted...

It never ceases to amaze me if the daytime quiz shows are on in the background, the things that "youngsters" just don't know (or are capable of working out). I still think the worst one I heard was in response to "What travel company was founded in 1841?" The answer she gave was "British...

Meant to say @Annb , niece is in Barra this week. She likes her B&B couple in Uist so much, she seriously considered staying in Uist and taking the ferry back and forward to Barra. Common sense prevailed. She is staying in Barra. I think this is her last trip to the islands for this year.
