A day in the life of my Bg

I was getting the hyops as my Bg approached 100 (5.5) before they put me on Lantus in the hospital.

So you'd call a 1.4 rise after dinner a "spike"? The beetroot is 2g of carbs (sugar) per serving I wish folks would make up their minds. Previous advice suggested having a late night snack to avoid the hypo.

A day in the life of my Bg

Yes, only Lantus. Right now, my daily carb intake is usually under 30g. I don't generally eat any carbs with breakfast (trace maybe from a little onion) and my lunch is typically around 5-10g of carbs. Dinner I stay low carb - I can't eat grass/wheat products due to a GMO related allergy so no...

A day in the life of my Bg

I cooked the ribs til dry so no sauce to speak of. No doubt there was some sugar but as noted, my Bg showed no real spike. As a lunchtime snack I just had lean deli chicken - nothing else As a bedtime snack I had lean deli chicken, a small piece of cheese and 6 slices of pickled beetroot. A...

At my wits end - running out of ideas

Seeing my GP this coming week and have asked for a(nother) referral to an endocrinologist. Also looking into naturopathic stuff. This is my 3rd time around the diagnosis buoy without anyone, including a specialist, being able to fathom it out. It get's so frustrating when even the...

A day in the life of my Bg

OK, so decided to map my Bg throughout the day yesterday and here are the results. Fasting at Daybreak (7:30) was 228 (12.6) Lantus right before breakfast (15 units as directed) No real spike after breakfast (15 points) No real lowering of bloodsugar until 2pm Bg 124 (6.8) immediately before...

So I should eat more and stay permanently inebriated as a way of controlling my out of control liver? :D At what point will me liver quit producing sugar? Where's it getting it all from?

My Bg is actually lower if I eat a larger meal and have 2 24oz beers with it... yep, lower! It makes no sense at all!!

This is the craziness that I'm dealing with... 7:00 am Bg 11.9 (214 mg.dl) Eeeek I hear you gasp! 15 units Lantus Breakfast fritatta and 1/2 a low carb wrap - about 4g carbs Cup of tea with cream (not milk) 1/4 tsp of raw sugar. 10:00 am Bg 12.9 (234 mg/dl) 11:00 am Bg 13.5 (245 mg/dl)...

By "test your meals" what do you mean? Before, after, 4 hours after? 10 years ago the US told me I was Type 2 based on a single fingerprick. 6 months later after emigrating to New Zealand I did a full glucose workup and they were like "did you say you were diabetic, coz you're not"...

Well I'm recovering from Sepsis but that was almost 2 months ago now. If that is causing the constant 10+ numbers then wow! Not taking any other medication other than the Lantus. The Pure Protein bars have a 11g net carbs, 21g protein. That's my single highest carb intake of the day. OK, I'm...

Today is a good example of why I'm stressed out... Woke up, Bg at 6:30am - 191 (10.6) - zero carbs since 5pm the previous day Took my 15 units of Lantus Breakfast maybe trace carbs from the onion in the frittata. Cup of tea with 1/2 tsp of raw cane sugar as my treat. Nothing else Bg at noon 201...

At my wits end - running out of ideas

As mentioned and apparently since moving to the US, I've developed an allergy to all "grasses" - probably down to Mr Monsanto or whatever they do to "enrich" stuff. So no wheat - bread, pasta, cereals, grains. Potato I avoid at home as I just dont have time to prepare them most of the time...

At my wits end - running out of ideas

Sortof sounds like my GPs response at the beginning - disbelief until I drag out my food log or Bg log and prove it. For a while I went full on < 20g Adkins. Lost some weight, didn't do much of anything to my Bg. Running a bit higher these days coz my evening snack adds between 2-8g. But hey-ho...

Hi there, OK, normal days diet.... Breakfast - I make a frittata (eggs, ham, shrooms, cheese, onion) and have a piece of that. I make one in a frying pan and it lasts me a week. I drink tea, white, sweeteners, no sugar, although I still use full fat cows milk - it's my guilty pleasure. Lunch -...

My BMI is 26.5 - my GP has referred to me as a "skinny diabetic". Sure 20 years ago when I was 140lbs I was skinny but not so much now :/ I'm maybe 10lbs over a "normal BMI"
