Drs. are a law unto themselves, my neighbour gets all his equipment and strips from his surgery free (he is type 2), i get nothing. It depends on what your Dr. thinks. Thats not fair.

Every time i asked for strips on prescription at my surgery, i was told no (3 times) because they say it is not necessary on Metformin. I consider it necessary to my mental health! I NEED to know what is happening to my blood every day.

I do also have severe Fibromyalgia.

Good Morning! I was given a meter by a friend who had a spare. Its Freestyle Lite. The strips cost £23 for 50, which works out around £30 a month and as i am a pensioner, its a bit of a drain. I only want the strips on prescription, i am not asking my surgery to fund the meter.

I am on 500 Metformin 3 times a day and find the only sidse effect is constipation.

I have been plodding along, trying to make sense of this Diabetes thing and think i am succeeding. Saw different Dr. last week and she also said i dont need to test my bg. So thats 2 Drs. and no help. I bought my own strips but its far too expensive. See Diabetes Nurse for first time tomorrow...

Same has happened to me. Its disheartening but on the upside i have reduced my bg from 20 to 5.6, which is more important.

At the moment i am on Metformin 500x3.

I drive so i will mention that to the nurse.

I have heard of this book. I have stopped before, longest was one year. I find just stopping to be best for me although i have never found the urge goes away, its always there. I have to do it this time as it will effect my health eventually. Congratulations on your success.
